Clement should be executed. Seriously. Not joking. Executed. Tomorrow.

The government, at the inducement of MADD, lowered BAC limits and basically started a crackdown on lower limit, one or two time DUI violators. The individuals driving at .1, .08 etc. are not the killers. The killers are those with repeat, high BAC content DUI's.
The criminal punishment for a first time DUI at .08 is not much different than .28. They need to focus on repeat high BAC drivers. "Buzzed driving may be drunk driving, but it is not what drives fatal accidents."

In my early 20’s I would drink and drive pretty regularly due to the nature of my work. Now if I have more than a few beers I’m riding not driving. Pretty typical of the culture around here.
I’m not saying it’s right, just being honest about how dumb it was and how invincible I felt back then.

This breaks my heart and makes my blood boil and terrifies me all at the same time. You can teach them and raise them and do everything you can and then have it all so cruelly and unfairly ripped away by pieces of human garbage who should not have even been drawing breath anymore.
Sometimes, perhaps what we need is for someone to act as judge, jury and executioner in this world, because some elements see fit to spread the filth among us.

I’m saving this thread for the next time some POS tries to say DUI is harmless.
I get downvoted all the time for commenting that DUI needs way more serious charges, even a first offense. Was almost killed by a drunk driver 5 years ago and he had multiple DUI's prior.
Don't drink and drive.

Screw calling & asking for justice to be served

That might not be on her. You could have a lenient judge in the previous cases. Or maybe the third offense was in a different parish.

There is a chance of that but I’d guess out of 4 times this isn’t her offices first time dealing with him
She would be the one who let him bond out, right?

Jesus, did the girls die by the fire? I wonder if they were trapped. Whats with these suvs catching fire and seemingly the dude causing the wreck just gets minor injuries?
quote:
“After the crash, both vehicles became engulfed in flames,” a press release stated. “All three occupants in the SUV suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Clement experienced minor injuries. Clement was unrestrained while restraint use is unknown for the SUV occupants.”
According to State Police, Clement displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for DWI fourth offense with additional charges pending. Toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and submitted for analysis.

There's too much "even steven" in our criminal justice system. Assuming both our first timers, Guy caught driving home at a .09 is way different than some guy caught driving the wrong way up the highway with a .21 BAC. First time DUI's have morphed into revenue sources for the government (and MADD)
For first timers, simple solution: BAC over a certain limit (say .12), you have to wear an alcohol detection ankle bracelet while your case is pending and as part of the sentence. If you can't stop drinking, then you obviously have a drinking problem.
Under Louisiana's old pot system (not sure what the new one does), possession of any amount for a third time was a felony. Three possessions for a roach was a felony. Three possessions of 2 oz.was the exact same felony. It makes no sense.
FTR, I drink one drink 1-2 x per year.

They can't even tell if they had their seatbelts on. The fire destroyed their remains to the point they won't be able to figure out if they died by injury or by burning alive.
Fricking horriffic wish they could torture him then dip him in flammable liquid and torch his arse

Possible but the judge determines that. The old joke is the prosecutor always wants remand and the defense always wants ROR.
ETA: Might not hurt to light up the switchboard if it gets her to release a statement.

Who is the one person that keeps down voting for harsh penalties? Have you ever lost a loved one to a senseless act?

You don't even have to be driving to be affected. 2 weeks ago my coworkers friend was crossing the street in Brooklyn and was hit by a speeding drunk driver. Killed instantly.
