Please, look at the body of work.

I’m with you, but the guy has the major experiences and been a part of multiple Championship programs in key positions and even as a player. He has also drastically improved his recruiting prowess and talent development. His S&C program has been transformed as well. I think he’d take his next big step at LSU. Having said that he’s not my first choice, but I would take him over Kelly any day of the week.

Just because you worked for a national championship coach, don't make you a great coach.

When we hired Curley Hallman, all we heard was that he worked for the Bear...

Make decisions on the body of work and the competition level.

His body of work against bowl game competition is very average.

First of all, people need to stop saying this. It's overused and tired. It just sounds stupid.

Give him $500k a year with a 10 million dollar incentive per year for every top 5 team he beats. We can then never have to worry about paying him the incentive because he NEVER beats a top 5 team.

Cristobal has a very good body of work for a young coach… Player and Coaching History

Exactly why he’s average.

He has virtually unlimited resources and some of the best facilities in CFB AND the biggest Sugar Daddy in the history of college athletics (I believe Knight chipped another $100 million to OU athletics last year)

Oregon can also match any offer thrown at em.

Yea, he wants to exchange N.D.'s schedule for the SEC West + Texas & Okla. Get real.

Brian Kelly is so different from coach O - smart, professional, surrounds himself with talented coaches, knows the X’s and O’s, and proven.

LOL, the knock on him is he is hard headed like Miles when it comes to his coaches.

quote:

For all the good that Kelly has done to get Notre Dame out of the wilderness of mediocrity in which it roamed for 20 years, its his refusal to make some tough decisions on his coaching staff, or perhaps unwillingness to recognize the problems, that has kept this program from taking the big final step.

Surrounds himself with talented coaches? LOL

quote:

I still often wonder just how good the 2015 team could have been if Kelly would have come to grips with something just about everyone outside the program knew in 2014, and that was Brian VanGorder wasn't that guy, and Paul Longo's strength program wasn't getting it done.

LES MILES 2.0 Sound familiar?

quote:

Kelly's stubbornness to admit mistakes with his coaches is why the 2021 team has yet to play anywhere close to its potential. The coaching at offensive line and wide receiver are problems in 2021, and that's not a new thing.

quote:

Instead of holding his position coach accountable, Kelly talks about how "young" his line is, a line that has a 6th-year senior, a 5th-year senior, a senior with three years of starting experience and a junior that started two games a season ago. He ignores the regression we've seen from those players, and instead makes excuses for the poor play and talks about the left tackle health issues.

Brian Kelly is a good coach. My first choice? No, but he's a darn good coach. He just turned 60.

LSU doesn't want more with less. We're not Notre Dame or Stanford trying to be respectable without all the athletes given our history and academic reputation. We're a major SEC program trying to stack more elite athletes and guide them better than the other recruiting juggernauts around us.

Brian Kelly is a good coach and good fit at ND, at LSU it's an experiment.

And I'll add the ND FB was in almost a 20 year death spiral before he got there.

Brian Kelly is no Les Miles.

Have you watched Notre Dame play this year?

Uptempo offense
Playing a bunch of true freshmen
Kelly's staff is very good
Notre Dame is 10-1

I think he'd have no problem exchanging it if it meant at least a 4 fold increase in his salary.

He doesn't even make $2 million at Notre Dame

So it’s either pay $100MM for Kelly who isn’t worth anywhere remotely close to that, or Mark Stoops? Why not just pay 100 million to any of the 15 coaches who are superior to Kelly in every way before settling for Stoops?
