Sad news, saw this guy on his bike a lot around campus. Is this also the guy who jogged seemed like everyday around Stanford? Again, sad either way. And article does not say if hit and run.

I saw an article about this yesterday that said the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated... but no further details.

That's a really dangerous road. Narrow shoulder and sidewalks too narrow for all of the foot traffic along the lake

I saw it like 30 seconds after it happened. Sad to hear. You could tell it was very serious by the way people were reacting

I swear you take your life in your hands when trying to ride a bicycle.

Although many safe places to cycle in central MS, people will cycle in packs on narrow, winding roads with no shoulder. Makes not sense.

I know a very successful guy with a smoking hot wife who almost died when he got run over, stupid.

Very suprised this doesn’t happen more often. The sidewalk is very narrow and cars are routinely going over 40 mph.

Does it give the race, age, or sex of the driver?

This is why you never ride your bike on a regular road

Oh no! I was a research assistant for Dr. Muria in the early 90's. Such a smart dude, an expert on recombinant DNA. One of the experiments was altering rice genome to have them produce more balanced protein (rice is defiant in the amino acids cysteine and methionine).

He was a reserved yet very disciplined man, so when he complimented you it was a big deal. He helped me in many ways, including getting a better paying job at a UDSA genetics lab after funding for his project ran out.

RIP to a great man!

When I lived in University Hills I would see him jogging along Stanford on the sidewalk in the East Lakeshore - the park area in the mornings on my way to work (2008-2014). I remember it because he always had a look of either intense pain or extreme exhaustion on his face as he ran so I would think to myself "and that's why I don't jog."

I don't mind the shareways in the area but bicyclists have to understand they are still taking their lives into their hands if it's not a dedicated bike lane because so many drivers are so easily distracted by their phones.

I'm sorry that this professor was killed in this accident.

Baton Rouge is not made for bicyclists. Many people drive too damn fast in this town , only just to reach the next traffic light that is RED.
In the last month I have noticed an uptick of crazy driving in BR. People passing on the shoulder, using turn lanes for passing traffic, driving on the medians. Perhaps it is everywhere but I have also noticed less Policemen.
Drive safe,
Don'take unecessary risks.

Pretty sure this is the jogger. Been seeing him jog periodically for the last 20 years. Saw him Friday am. Story breaks my heart
