They held a "contest" to name the team but, in best LA fashion, the fix was in from the start and they knew that was going to be the name. Uniform design and logo leaked before the contest was over.
I was pissed because I submitted the Red Sticks which is what should have won. Prize was Season One box seats and a bunch of other stuff.

Going to a Kingfish game was one of the highlights of my childhood. I remember the games being a happening place in the mid 90s.
