6.4 is arguably the worst of the modern diesel engines. Maintain it until it dies, then start looking at swaps.

I owned a 2008 F-250 with the 6.4. Lots of issues with that engine. There is a reason Ford stoped making them. Just Google for more info.

The 6.7L is a little better, but still extremely expensive to maintain and unreliable.
The 6.0 and 6.4 are truly pathetic engines though. They had to make those to keep up with the then-new 6.6L Duramax. The old 7.3L Powerstroke was very good, but just not powerful enough.

The miles may indicate some mechanical issues and that engine has problems but in todays market you paid what it’s worth

I’ve seen this said but don’t get why? I have a 2008 f250 on the farm with almost 300k rough farm miles and that engine hasn’t given me any trouble
