We will NOT get off your lawn.

Their main goal Wednesday was to get the man in compliance with the local homeowners association. “They attempted to cut the lawn for him, and this is the reaction they got,” Mendez said.

The resident of the home has not been identified. Austin Police spokesperson Jose Mendez said he was a white man in his 50s. Mendez said the department had made previous welfare visits to the home, but were never able to communicate with him. Officers were in touch with his family during Wednesday's standoff.

Weird hill to die on

They tried to cut the guy’s lawn and he starts unloading on them. Then the police spent hours trying to talk him down. He ends up setting fire to his own house and runs out in a blaze of glory to start shooting again, and SWAT puts him down

We need common-sense HOA reform

Fork, people should mind their own damn business. This guy could have killed many but in the end he was killed, all because his grass was too tall. Fork.

He must have just gotten back from the tanning booth.

That's not why he was killed.

But then the man exited through the garage with weapons in his hand. "At that time, a SWAT officer shot and struck the resident who went down with a gunshot wound," Chacon said.
Found it

Officers got the man away from the house and treated him before he was taken to a hospital, where he died. It's unclear what caused his death.

Sounds like he was crazy. He set his house on fire while in it.

My friend lives immediately around the corner from this guy. He was live streaming SWAT team to me and later the fire fighters. It was quite a scene. He wasn’t sure how the fire started but confirmed the guy was dead.
Didn’t realize at the time that it was over a HOA dispute

too bad he wasn't sitting around smoking grass instead of watching it grow, he'd still be alive and celebrated for his bravery.
