Yes, he beat a shitty team in a shitty conference with his team that plays in that shitty conference with the same shitty talent level. That’s the part everyone seems to forget.
UL does not have even 1/5th if the talent LSU does, and yet he’s managed to win consistently against equal or better competitors.

I mean that is the whole point... You can have the best process and philosophy in the world but if the results aren't great, what good does that do? The reason people are skeptical about Napier is because he hasn't been a significant coach at a Power 5 school. It's a risk. You can look at guys like Scott Frost and Tom Herman as similar situations that didn't have success.

Too big of a leap for him
No way we go to sunbelt conf to get our next coach

Yeah, because no good coaches would ever start off coaching a G-5 program.
They always start off at the top...Isn't that how it works?

It’s really not when you have the right guy. You people wouldn’t have picked Saban at Michigan State if given the opportunity. You have to have a little foresight and guts to pull the trigger on this.
Otherwise, you’re just going to get a washed up coach way past his prime. Ala Jimbo, Urban. We’re going to be looking back when Napier is pulling recruits from Louisiana and winning multiple championships and think.. we really passed him up because he was coaching at ULL despite all indications he’s an incredibly gifted coach? Yikes

I'm not saying that he isn't a good or can't succeed at LSU. I have no idea what he would do here. All indications are that Tom Herman is an incredibly gifted coach. He flopped at Texas. Could Napier win titles at LSU and dominate? Sure, but you acting like there is no reason to have any doubt is insane. Everyone thinks they have the right guy when they make a hire until they don't.

Yeah he's made ULL good. But his ULL teams play to the level of competition wayyyy too much. Too often they barely beat teams they should beat by 3 touchdowns. I don't want a coach that isn't going to have the team ready to play against lesser teams. Sure it's going to happen from time to time no matter what but it seems to happen a lot at ULL.

This is the complete list of schools with a better record since 2019 than Napier.
Alabama
Ohio State
Oklahoma
Georgia
Clemson
Cincinnati
What more do you really want? The list would be Alabama and Ohio State if you discluded the Texas game this year where they were clearly outtalented because they're ULL. He's also 13-3 in one score games.
And no, there are some people who are wary at the G5 thing (though good luck getting a top tier coach if you demand they prove success at near bloods+ before you look at their resume), but the things people are saying makes it clear that they're mad about him being Lafayette's coach. Hence all the "one of us" (wow, I didn't know that Louisiana was actually middle Tennessee), people bitching about how "you shouldn't look like that against Arkansas State" ignoring that they're ULL and that Arkansas State isn't an inferior team to them, and the non specific bitching about "bad coaching".

There are retards who can't get past the fact that he's at a little bro school down the road.
Which is where most really good coaches get their start, at some directional school with marginal talent.

I would be interested in seeing your list. The first one that comes to mind is Urban, and he has been one and done.
Not exactly who LSU needs right now.

And there would never be a revolving door of offensive coordinators that matter. He will always run his offense.

Napier inherited the #9 recruiting class in the SBC from 2017. There are 11 SBC teams.
From 2018 to 2021 classes ranked 5, 1, 1, and 1 in SBC.
ULL under Napier doesn’t have a divisional loss. This year they beat App State the week before that team knocked of a top-25 opponent, and last year ULL knocked off a top-25 opponent.
Genuinely asking... What more could someone do in 3 years at ULL beat Texas?

They also squeaked by Nicholls St., S. Alabama and Ark St.
Troy, TX St, GA St, Liberty and ULM to go.

Are they wins or losses?

I honestly don’t want to go back to athletic, spread only quarterback play. I would much rather have a coach who can teach pre snap read and let the quarterback have more check power...you know, like 2019.

The bar is pretty low to become the HC of LSU. Thought it was a prestigious job.
The bar is higher for P5 coaches with better wins.
From Les Miles to career DL Coach/Motivator to Sunbelt squeaker wins.
Makes sense.

I think it’s just because we’ve seen Go5 results are not fair indicators of how one will due in P5.
Tom Herman is a prime example.
Also Charlie Strong, Chad Morris, Kevin Sumlin, etc.
Everything you have said about Napier was also said and believed about Tom Herman. The only way to really know if someone can succeed in P5 is to have already witnessed them succeed in P5.
