If you understand recruiting you'll understand why this won't happen.

The simple short answer is no based on demographics.

We aren’t UT because we have a built in recruiting advantage. When LSU has a coach that puts the wall up around Louisiana we end up with golden years.

UT isn’t capable of doing that. LSU has proved it can win with two of the dumbest coaches around.

No....Woodward has a great track record wherever he has been. He has worked under Mark Emmert and when Emmert went to Washington, he eventually got him up there and changed everything up there. Brought in Chris Peterson, had facilities built, brought in money, and increased the budget significantly.
A&M he snagged Fisher.
LSU he snagged K. Mulkey, Jay Johnson.
His track record is proven and he won't let this become Tenn. I think that is one reason Kiffin will not be the guy.
Just "Stay Calm"
It will be OK.

There were some very similar parallels to Fulmer at UT and Miles at LSU. Although I did think it was time for Miles to go, I remember saying at the time, be careful, because you don't want to see LSU end up like UT. I think most fans agree we would be happy for a "Miles down year" right about now at 9-3.

History has shown that more often than not, a new coach doesn't keep a program running in the top tier...look at UF after Spurrier, UT after Fulmer, LSU after Charlie Mac, Bama after Bear....etc.

Now history is on LSU's side in that 3 different coaches have won a NC with LSU, so the talent in state is there.

No, and it's not even close.....LSU is not Tennessee and for that matter, I'll add Nebraska....

LSU will be back in top 10/top 5 contention in short order with the right hire.

LSU has way more "natural resources" to draw upon than Tennessee (or Nebraska, which I added).

No. Tennessee has recruiting issues geographically that LSU does not have.

no. There's too much talent in Louisiana, with no real in-state competition.

The state of Tennessee doesn't have much.

Now, even with tons of talent, a bad coach can produce bad results, as we're seeing now.

But a good coach can instantly turn things around here.

They had Phil Fulmer as their AD, we have Scott Woodward. Phil was sabotaging their program for years and was a terrible AD

Tennessee's issue is lack of in-state talent.

Before last year and now, I didn't think I'd ever see what I'm seeing at LSU. We were .500 last year (and fortunate to be that) and in all honesty it's hard to see winning another game other than ULM.

This. Remember when it was underachieving vs expectations/talent? We wouldn’t win the MAC

No – the right guy can turn this whole thing around in two years.

No it wasn’t. UT is the problem. They’ve gone through coaches like a revolving door. UT has a hard time recruiting and an even harder time winning. Lane only had so much to work with.
