Worker shortage - dominos CSB

or not CSB since its CAD
last night we decided to order a dominos pizza since we were going to be driving by the store. i pulled up the app on my phone that said 'closed' then i tried calling and got a busy signal.
anyway we pull in anyway because fat CAD gotta eat and the door was locked but the open sign was on.
guy runs up to the door and lets us in and tells us they disabled the app and took the phone off the hook because they don't have any drivers and only taking walk in orders.
so we walk up to the register and the stoner guy trying to ring us up (i mean, the register is basically an iPad and works like the app these days..just mash pics of what you're ordering and hit 'total') and he's have a HELLA time taking our order.
turns out he walked in an hour earlier to order a pizza and they hired him.
anyway we actually did get our pizza and i had to give the dude a tip for trying even though i don't know if he understood enough to realize he just got a tip.

Sunday my Gandpa asked me to bring him Popeyes
He had sent my Uncle to Church’s where he sat for 40 minutes to be told they were out of chicken
I sat at Popeyes for 10 minutes before a lady got out of her car & was telling everyone in drive thru that the lights were off & no one was in there
How hard is it to put a closed sign on the drive thru speaker?

I had a hankering for Popeye's a couple of weeks ago and went inside to order after seeing the drive-thru line stacked up. After waiting 5 minutes to order, the guy on the fried chicken line pleasantly asked me what I wanted to order. I replied a 3 piece white, spicy.
He then asks me about my side items. I said mashed potatoes.
He walks up with a bag full of fresh and hot spicy fried chicken, (2) family sides of mashed potatoes, and said he threw in a couple of their red beans for me to try out.
I replied that I did not want to buy all of this, as I only wanted a 3 piece. He says, "Sir, I hope you enjoy. There is no ring up, as no one here can work the register. To be honest, I don't even give a frick. I gave you the spicy right out of the fryer and appreciate your patience."
Once I got in, I realized I had a 20 piece of spicy Popeye's, a dozen biscuits, 2 family mashed potatoes, and 2 family Red beans. I ate Popeye's several days earlier this month.

I think it's fascinating that nobody batted an eye and nobody drove off until that lady went all town crier. This tells me that the level of customer service that one gets in ten minutes of waiting in a drive-thru line at a closed Popeyes is equal to or exceeds the level of customer service that one expects to get in ten minutes of waiting in the drive-thru line of an open Popeyes.
That said, I went to Popeyes yesterday for lunch on Government and got my chicken in a fast, courteous, and CORRECT manner. Of course, I got there right at 11 and by the time I drove off, the line was already about to back up onto Government.

when i was applying for shitty jobs in high school, i recall feeling some sympathy for poor people who were in a bind bc actually getting onboarded and starting can take weeks for some of these jobs

I'm about to pick up a few part-time job for the evenings. Gives me a chance to get away from the wife and kids, while banking $1k sign-on bonuses. It's really a win/win.
