While the loss to Panama wasn’t ideal, let’s not melt.

We are sitting second.
This is not last round, when we were fifth.

I’ve been following us soccer since 94.
We are fine where we’re at, and I do expect to beat Costa Rica this evening.
Put $1500 on it.

Turner was not good in Panama. I’m fine with steffen starting

Nobody was good in Panama. The goal was because we were zonal marking a lot of grass in the box and he got crowded out of the play. Don't forget he still made several very good saves in that game. Steffen has always failed to impress

I'm predicting a 2-1 win.

Don’t mention zonal marking to Greggg. It’s a difficult question that needs more data and more substance behind it. Presser (FF to 9:50 mark) Greggg, tell me you are a thin-skinned prick without telling me you are a thin-skinned prick!

After watching Turner’s distribution on Sunday, if Gregg wants to play out the back I get him wanting to make a change there.

His intellectual ego is tremendous for a dude who has incredibly undeserving.

Steffen isn't exactly tidy with the ball at his feet either. In fact he has more often than not had some really bad passes that have led to chances in games than Turner so far

We can very well be in 3rd after tonight. Canada or Panama will pass us if we draw and one of them win. God forbid we lose and they draw then we are sitting in 5th. If we expect to draw in Azteca, we almost cannot drop points anywhere else along the way.

It literally blows my mind that you think we are okay right now and tonight is not a must win.

I agree. We act like Panama and Costa Rica are a bunch of nobodies but they both went to the last World Cup and we did not, in the same qualification process. I fully expect Mexico and Canada to qualify. That means it’s between us and that pair for the third spot. Which means we need to take as many points from them as we can, every chance we get. Especially tonight.

6pm kickoff. I feel like this window they have actually been pretty straightforward with kick times

These times have been much better.

The 5pm game sunday. 6pm tonight.

Can actually enjoy the game and not have to rush to get stuff done.

GTFO. Panic only.

But seriously Gregg needs to do better, tinker less, and just play our best players. It’s not complicated. Also our offensive patterns of play and “disorganizing the opponent” hasn’t been working, but at least our defense is rock solid.

Supposedly Busio, McKennie, and Steffen are starting tonight.

I’ve been impressed with Busio in Italy and I think he has the potential to grow into a regular for the USMNT, but I don’t think starting him tonight would be a good idea. Also I think we should stick with Turner until Steffen starts getting quality minutes with his club which won’t happen if he continues to stay at City

I’d be extremely surprised if hoppe isn’t starting or doesn’t come in as a sub

He was energy personified during the gold cup and exactly what the us needed vs Panama

We are good enough defensively and with Adam’s to allow musah/ldt/McKennie to plow forward

Turner made some fantastic saves against Panama. He’s given up like 4 goals since the start of the gold cup and one of those was a penalty against Martinique and one was the own goal by zardes.

He’s the only reason we didn’t lose by more than 1 against Panama. And he probably saves that one too if fricking Zardes doesn’t head the ball into his own fricking goal.
