Decision to start steffen in hindsight probably wasn’t the best. I was wrong

Weah certainly grows into the game. Looked very good in the second half.

Pulisic and Reyna can hopefully bring a killer instinct to the final third

McKennie was out to prove something last night, lots of dribbling and turnovers

Adam’s the undisputed captain and MOTM last night. Anyone plays that position and we lose. No doubt in my mind

Robinson was fine just a few sloppy moments on the ball.

Weston took some heavy touches while dribbling that lost him possession but otherwise played well

Pepi was fine. Had a few crosses that were cut out by the last defender and he was right there waiting to knock it home. Came to back to the ball to link up the MF and spring attacks. Had a really great flick on in the first half down our right side that got us in a very dangerous position (think it was Weah or Musah he put in behind the line). And he worked tirelessly in the press

Absolutely. Without Adams laying back and covering for Dest, the equalizing goal never happens

They had a couple like that, but there was a corner in early in the first half that was like 6 inches from him getting his head on it and putting it in back the net. I thought Costa Rica did great at controlling him in the air which took away a huge part of his scoring threat.

I don't think we can overlook how involved Steffan was in our build up last night. In a way that I do not think Turner is, especially after his outing in Panama. Steffan made a slight mistake when he didn't get enough purchase on his header clearance, but he had to come get that ball. I don't blame him for not stopping the shot on the goal. He was pretty great with his feet after that point though.

Dumb qtn - why is the US team so young? Did they cut some key veterans from the last qualifying round? Guys retire? Different strategy by Gregg?

Keep seeing how the average age last night was only 22.

Long story short is that old generation aged out or had injury issues that derailed their career. The generation after that was a complete bust in terms of development and we only got Yedlin and Brooks as consistent contributors.
