For some reason, the clip of U2's Super Bowl Halftime Show after 9/11 sticks out to me - Even though it's not the same song

For whatever reason, I seem to prefer instrumental versions. I think it may be the words flow through a different part of my brain and it just resonates more with me.

The performance I remember being the most evocative in the last few years was Arturo Sandoval on trumpet. The C7 he hits at 3 bars from the end just rips.*

*anyone that has ever played trumpet knows how difficult that is even if it was a hair sharp

With all due respect to the beautiful and talented Whitney Houston -- God rest her soul -- I thought your link was to Marvin Gaye at the 1983 NBA all star game.

They play the Oak Ridge Boys singing the National Anthem at my son’s football game the other night and it was awesome.

Lincoln Memorial

I like this one just because it wasn't an event. Girl just decides to sing it at the Lincoln Memorial amongst visitors and I think its pretty awesome.
