So Max may have the 2nd greatest season of all time at LSU and finish top 5 in career TDs

Through 3 games
863 yards
11 TDs
2 INTs
64.8 completion %
QB Rating - 161.8
Over 13 games he’s pacing for
3740 yards
44 TDs
9 INTs
Obviously Joe in 2019 isn’t going to be touched. Granted he’s playing in much more wide open scheme but I would argue he has the worst Oline and RB group of anyone on the following list I’m about to show. Not one of the worst. THE WORST He’s gonna come back down to earth in the SEC but
3500 yards
35 TDs
Seems extremely realistic
Here’s some stats
Single season yards record
1 Joe Burrow 5,671- 2019
2 Rohan Davey 3,347- 2001
3 JaMarcus Russell 3,129- 2006
4 Zach Mettenberger 3,082- 2013
5 Joe Burrow 2,894- 2018
6 Matt Mauck 2,825- 2003
7 Tommy Hodson 2,655- 1989
8 Zach Mettenberger 2,609- 2012
9 Jeff Wickersham 2,542- 1983
10 Danny Etling. 2,463- 2017
Passing TDs in a season
1 Joe Burrow 60- 2019
2 Matt Mauck 28- 2003
JaMarcus Russell 28- 2006
4 Tommy Hodson 22- 1989
Zach Mettenberger 22- 2013
6 Matt Flynn 21- 2007
7 Tommy Hodson 19- 1986
8 Herb Tyler 18- 1998
Rohan Davey 18- 2001
10 Alan Risher 17- 1982
Josh Booty 17- 2000
Jordan Jefferson 17- 2009
Here’s where it gets really interesting. Here’s the career TDs. Reminder- Max had 8 in 2020
1 Joe Burrow 76- 2018 2019
2 Tommy Hodson 69- 1986 1987 1988 1989
3 JaMarcus Russell 52- 2004 2005 2006
4 Herb Tyler 40-
1995 1996 1997 1998
5 Matt Mauck 37- 2001 2002 2003
6 Zach Mettenberger 35-
2011 2012 2013
7 Jamie Howard 34- 1992 1993 1994 1995
Jordan Jefferson 34- 2008 2009 2010 2011
9 Jarrett Lee 32- 2008 2009 2010 2011
10 Alan Risher 31- 1980 1981 1982
Matt Flynn 31- 2004 2005 200
There’s a very good chance this kid is 4th in passing TDs on the career LSU list by the end of this year snd he’s started a grand total of 5 games.
He’s running for his life back there. His running game is giving him virtually no support and he doesn’t have one decent upper class man WR. shite all of his best guys except Kayshon are true freshman.
Y’all were spoiled by Joe. Give this kid a fricking break and some support.

if they put even 3 competent ol in front of him he'll be fine
Posted on 9/19/21 at 8:13 pm to Solo Cam
I was proud of him for taking some chances last night and airing it out. Looking forward to seeing him continue to develop.

Amazing Burrow has more than twice as many TD's as the the next highest. Granted an extended playoff accounts for some of it, but still.
Posted on 9/19/21 at 8:14 pm to Solo Cam
This is very cool perspective. Good work
Posted on 9/19/21 at 8:15 pm to Solo Cam
We're seeing that Max has a lot of young guys who will fight and win a lot of 50-50 balls. Like others have said, if they can keep him upgright, he will put up numbers.
Posted on 9/19/21 at 8:22 pm to Solo Cam
Max is young as well. Kid is will only get better at a rapid pace
Posted on 9/19/21 at 8:25 pm to Solo Cam
Brennan was on the same pace last year. I really do feel for that guy.
Posted on 9/19/21 at 8:32 pm to Solo Cam
You think this pace keeps up against 8 SEC defenses?
Getting to 35 TDs and 3500 yards is probably a stretch.

The game is so much different from even the 2013-16 years.
There should probably be a few lines drawn in there somewhere, because there's a lot of apples to oranges stuff going on with posts like this.

When you see Joe’s stats against other LSU greats it really puts into perspective how incredible 2019 was
Posted on 9/19/21 at 9:00 pm to Solo Cam
Taking stats from three non conference games and extrapolating them for a season is speculative especially when two of the three are cupcakes.
Posted on 9/19/21 at 9:02 pm to Solo Cam
Apples and oranges outside of a comparison to 2019. You can’t compare what he is doing to any other QB but burrow or Brennan.

THANK YOU! Not for a second can I understand any of the Max hate. He's a damn good QB and proud to have him.
Posted on 9/19/21 at 10:09 pm to Solo Cam
Brennan was also on pace to have the 2nd best LSU passing season ever last year.
Lotta ball left to be played. But max will be fine if the oline can be half way decent.

I sure hope he does and it computes to wins but in all fairness to all the guys before Burrow, they weren’t in systems that allowed them to attempt the amount of passes that Burrow nor Johnson are getting to attempt.
These are total attempts for these guy’s careers at LSU
Davey- 478
Flynn- 437
Mett- 659
Russell-797
Burrow-906
If Johnson just averages the 36/ game he has now, he would attempt 432 passes just this year. Possibly some of the aforementioned could produce big numbers too in similar systems but we will never know. Kudos to Johnson though, he showed marked improvement against CMU and I think Peetz not doing the check with me’s helped and made him more instinctual.

If Kiner and Goodwin stay healthy, I think the view on the RBs will change when we look back at the end of the season. Both seem to have skills and abilities that TDP just doesn’t.
As for the O Line, yeah. It’s the worst. Probably by far.

How is that possible? Last week fans were saying he didn't have the arm strength needed to play at this level
Posted on 9/20/21 at 8:15 am to Solo Cam
I dont really like these all-time comparisons for modern CFB QB's. The passing offenses are on a different level now. Rohan, for example, would have thrown for a million yards in Mike Leach's offense. Hell 8 of 10 all-time leading passers are from the last 20 years and 5 from the last decade.
Max is on a good track, though. He's got to tighten some things up, but hes only a sophomore, so we need to be patient.

The last 2 months will not be kind to our offense if we don’t have a running game. You’ll see 4 man fronts putting pressure because the OL is terrible. Max has faced some terrible defenses the past 2 weeks so let’s not get too excited until he does it vs Auburn and Florida.
Our only hope is sitting #3 and letting the freshmen RBs carry the load.
