Sounds like a perfect chance for an enterprising person to fill a need.

China is letting us "eat our own" and it's working.

I can’t even get new CB radios for my farm trucks due to chip shortage

Any AB or Siemens parts are virtually impossible to get a hold of right now.

I get Eaton products easily (used to be Cutler-Hammer)

Not sure if they make everything needed to be an alternative to AB or Siemens but they work well for my electrical components on the farm

Lol. I hope this is rhetorical.

Same story for a whole lot of industrial equipment. The ripples of the covid shutdown are just now starting to REALLY be felt in the industrial supply chain.

I believe you’ll keep blowing China Joe to his grave.

So you think all chips are made in China or that China dominates global chip manufacturing? Or do you believe that reality is real?

Looking back, I know all the hate for FDR, and rightfully so, but AT LEAST he was smart enough to ramp up production and manufacturing at home for the storm that he knew was coming soon.

I only recall one, maybe two, big defense plants starting construction before Dec 7th.

Many more after of course.

It should be noted however that companies like GM, Ford and Chrysler were not only vertically integrated, they were able to shift the massive production lines they already had over to war work.

As an example, GM subsidiaries like Saginaw, Muncie, Delco, AC and others made the steering boxes, transmissions, alternators, spark plugs and such for GM and also other manufacturers.

In todays environment, manufacturers are cautious about adding capacity for what may be a short term situation. Why spend a couple billion building a chip factory to only have the chinese undercut you on price when things stabilize?

Even the "hobby type" boards for things like the Arduino, STM32, ESP32/8266 etc...all prices are starting to rise.

Model trains are being held up in China as they are waiting for the controller boards. No chips for them either.

Kinda like having a 57 Chevy in Cuba . They seem to keep them going somehow . When American cars from Detroit had endurance

They didn't have chips either.

Those cars in Cuba are so patched up it's insane. But they can be kept running pretty much indefinitely.

The problem is that it’s not one component, thousands of supply chains begin in Asia, and depend on Asian manufacturers.

You’re looking at a twenty year project, to bring those factories back to America.

I’m in an inside industry in this, and what I’m hearing: at best things get back to normal by July 2022 with this shite. That was two months ago, and I expect the quarterly update to put it off to December of 2022. Get ready to live like Cuba folks. I’ll personally be profiting, but the rest of y’all are fricked.

What part outside of “The chip shortage” has you confused Mao? There are millions of electrical parts that are unattainable to the production industry that are manufactured in China right now. Why is your head stuck so far in the sand? Seriously, why are you against the US and a China sympathizer?

Somehow I ordered 1000 555 timer chips last year. Stupid me I returned 975 of them... I should have hung on to them as a retirement fund!
