The top 10 will keep most people from wasting their time clicking on the link.
It's impossible to compile a reasonable list but it'd be incredibly easy to come up with 10 songs better than every single one of these.
Just more pandering/trolling bullshite.

Rolling Stone is a shitrag that has outlived its usefulness by about 40 years.
I wouldn't expect them to write ANYTHING that wasn't full of crap.

Whodathunkit?
I recently read that they also claimed some shi##y Marvin Gaye album is now better than Sgt Pepper's, Revolver, Abbey Road, Exile on Main St., Let it Bleed, Blood on the Tracks and Highway 61 Revisited.
Btw, Aretha Franklin sucked.

What a terrible list...
"Strawberry Fields Forever" isn't even the best Beatles song, let alone the 7th best song of all-time.
These new rankings are akin to the Washington Football Team dropping the "Redskins" name. It's only done to make the folks in charge feel enlightened and more important.
To put into perspective just how bogus this list is, a song by Robyn is ranked 20th best. Of all-time. Really.

Embarrassing.. it’s only going to get worse as time goes on. Rolling Stone is a joke

quote:#1 is at least quasi-defensible, but #2 is so utterly absurd to be at #2 (and I say that as a pretty big PE fan.)
2. Public Enemy, 'Fight the Power'
1. Aretha Franklin, 'Respect'
And Strawberry Fields is like the 40th best Beatles song.

It’s obviously a horrible troll job

3. Sam Cooke, 'A Change Is Gonna Come'
I do agree with this one. Primarily because it's a powerful song that was written in the middle of the Civil Rights crisis. It was perfect for its time.

Problem: Nobody buys magazines anymore and the online version isn't getting much attention.
Solution: Create a hot-take list of "greatest songs" that present like a shiny object in front of a kitten and voila!, instant reaction and profile boost.
Looks like the strategy worked.

Sam Cooke is better than Otis Redding! This alone disqualifies the entire list

This is why I came to this board for the first time ever.
Atrocious list and clearly forced.
Missy Elliott top 8?!?!? What the bleep.
