Some of you may remember Wintzell's Oyster House located between downtown Fairhope and the Grand Hotel. It's been sitting vacant for years
I've never eaten at the Chimes. What can we expect?

A "Louisiana Cajun cuisine" restaurant is coming to the former Wintzell's building. Tyler Hood, owner of several Chimes restaurants in the Baton Rouge area, recently purchased the property in Battles Wharf. He said he intends to remodel the existing building but is not sure what the new restaurant's name would be

The Chimes is a solid restaurant and is always good. I've always felt you could take someone from out of town there and it would do just fine. Is it unbelievable? No, but it's a good meal. This is assuming the poor employee quality crisis or opening further away from Baton Rouge doesn't effect it.

Solid southern food with a great bar

Good place. Your standard bar type food, plus some Louisiana specialties.
I'm going by the 1990s when I lived in BR, but it was my favorite place near campus.

As others have said, The Chimes is good. I wish they’d open one in the Houston area, preferably SW Houston area.

Blackened alligator is one of the best apps on any menu

Anyone know if they are still planning on opening one in Lafayette?

It will be the best LA food in the area, no doubt.
I think Chimes is decent. Nothing great.

Good to hear… I had heard it was a Louisiana restaurant, but was wondering which one. Every time someone around here opens a “Louisiana” restaurant, it’s horrible

Chimes will be a good place to go watch a game in an area that surprisingly has few offerings along those lines

So when is this place suppose to open?

Fun place. Great place to go before the games. The food good for a sports bar but not a gourmet restaurant.
