A lot of people stayed in Chauvin. What's crazier than that is a podna od mine who rode out Ida in his shrimp boat in Dulac. He was live on FB for a little but just as it was hitting. He said never again.

He doesn’t really seemed to be too worried about his own place. I’d like to see a before and after.

Ida was the 5th strongest hurricane to make landfall in America. Only the four Cat 5s were stronger. And Ida may get reclassed as a Cat 5.
Was in Houma working Saturday. Only hurricane damage I've seen worse was the MS Gulf Coast after Katrina - just slabs and oak trees.

The bad thing is your place might be built like a bomb shelter and your neighbors whole house might get slammed into the pylons and down you go
Buddy of mines camp went and took the pylons with it. Thats a whole lot of sustained force for a long period of time. I would have been nervous in anything besides a steel supply boat.

I’m assume you mean pilings and not pylons.

Pointe-Aux-Chene no water no power and about 60 utility trucks working down 665 yesterday. Looked like a bomb went off down there. It will take years and it still won’t look normal.

Confederate flag at about 20 minute mark. YouTube will take it down for hate speech

There is video out there. Looks like he was in the middle of the ocean the water in lake Ponchartrain was up so high.

Wind is a crazy animal. After seeing pics and vids of the destruction in Dulac and Chauvin, I thought for sure my duck blinds on the south side of Boudreaux would be gone but somehow one of them made it unscathed.

I should have filmed more. I watched my neighbors roof come off and the insulation come out. Then the tree in my backyard was about to hit the power line so I strapped it to another tree.
Both trees came down but away from the power line at least.

apparently tornado like vortices exist around the eyewalls of strong hurricanes, i think they call them "mesovortices"

You have to know your place is built like a brick shite house to stay through something like that.

How was there no storm surge there?

The Toyota Tacoma sits unscathed in the open field.

They were on the western side of the eye so it pushed water out. The Floodgate in the Houma Nav (Bubba Dove) actually took some damage because it was getting pushed on by wind from the backside, it wasn't designed for that.
