high a harmonic distortion to run sensitive electronics, and reading several posts elsewhere about fried refrigerators,

It's why I went with an inverter.

A buddy runs an appliance place and they replaced a lot of parts or fridges and washing machines months later that crapped out. Said a short run on a generator is ok... long runs can have issues.

My neighbor bought a new fifth wheel. He picked up 2 honda gens with a parallel kit. His new camper states inntheir warranty that if they dont use an inverter style it will void the warranty. Said all the computer shite on his camper cant take the electrical output of a standard gen.

Harbor fright came out with a big inverter and you can buy a tri fuel carb setup for it.

You only run 10 hrs a day?
I would be burning up

My champion runs 23 3/4 hrs a day

Its amazing how many people enjoy camping but then 4 days without complete function at home just throws them a curveball.

I really don't understand why everyone needs whole home generators. Maybe just the guys that are high maintenance are the ones that post on here.

A small generator to run a window AC for your bedroom at night and then your appliances during the day is really not that bad for a week or 2. As said get out of the house and do some damn clean up if you have time to think about it.

20% loss. So your 15KW will be around 12KW.

I bought a small WEN inverter (2250W) and it ran appliances during the day and window AC at night, but I didn’t have quite enough umphf to keep the freezers as cold as I’d like (2 freezers and 2 refrigerators). Would really like to get a NG fueled one so I’m not chasing around with gas cans.

I will provide another suggestion that I like to run. I have 2 generators. 3600 Watt and 5500 Watt continuous run. I like the fact that I have a backup if one dies. I also like being able to turn one off for a cool down and still power some items in the house. I use window units to cool select rooms in the house with doors that can be closed off..not the central AC. It's worked well for me in Ike, Harvey and the winter storm. Just a thought.

My 3500 harbor freight inverter ran two window units. Two frudge/freezer side by sides, lights, and tv.

24 hours burned 7 gallons of gas.

You can mod it and add a gas cap with a quick connect to another tank like a boat tank. Adds 6.6 more gallons.

Wouldn't have to touch fuel but every 26-28 hours.

I’m thinking of upgrading to 12k watt generator, runs on gas online or natural gas. It’s $1100. My incoming gas is right near my outside panel, so I could easily tap into there.

Let me say this LOUD and clear. Do NOT compromise reliability for power. You literally get what you pay for with generators.

I have one that runs on gasoline or propane. $1050 at lowes. My plan is to only use gasoline if i don’t have a choice. No more worrying about leaving gas in the tank too long.

Firman 7500W Running / 9400W Peak Tri Fuel Generator for $899 @ Costco

I ordered one a week ago. Still waiting on it to ship.

I picked up the Firman T07571 tri fuel generator at Costco the day before the storm.

The propane option was great especially since gas was scarce the first 5 days after the storm hit. Unfortunately, the propane regulator that comes with the product was defective which caused inconsistent starts. I averaged about a 75 minute wait daily in Kenner to get the propane tanks refilled since both nearby Home Depots were out.

I switched to gasoline Saturday and it starts the first time, every time. Getting around 12-13 hours per fill.

So far, the only issue I had with electronics is my ATT router stopped working. Only the top Power light would come on when prior to having to refuel, the router's lights all came on and the internet and tv worked fine. Fortunately I had the old router the tech left so I switched out the cables and it worked.

If I had the luxury of choice and time, I would've taken a hard look at the Champion Tri Fuel since it comes with the nat gas hose kit (Firman doesn't include it) and has a carbon monoxide sensor shutoff.

You can upgrade any gas generator to natural gas for under $200.

That one you posted runs on gas and LP...not natural gas.

There are very fuel that come ready for natural gas from the factory. I know champion makes a tri fuel.

Otherwise you'll have to get a conversion kit. Natural gas reduces energy output about 30% from gasoline. Just know that.

Eta - my FIL and I are converting his duramax 13kw to natural gas now. Can't get this bitch to crank for nothing. Runs fine on LP and gas. Its been a pain

I mean, a super reliable generator that doesn't meet your power needs is a useless as one that doesn't start. Those Honda inverter units are amazing, but to get an inverter over 2kw, you are spending double at a minimum. Think the Honda 7kw inverter is like 4500 bucks. As far as regular generators....I think 90% are the same Chinese motors painted a different color.

Does it provide the same output regardless the fuel source? What are you planning on powering with the unit? Does is offer any source of output filtering on the power/current supply?

Not the northern tool blue one..

They opened that up and a lot of the internal shite was plastic. Stay away from that one.

Contractor here we know uses the predators and runs them to death or until they inevitably get stolen. Changes out the spark plug after break in to NGK and goes with it.

They've been through some hard times and still work well.

But propane can be easier to find than gas. It's also cheaper to refill than swapping out if you have a place nearby.
