I think the lack of evacuation is really going to hamper the speed of any infrastructure repairs as well.

It's going to be dangerous too. I would be armed on those utility crews.

Whats the reasoning for this?

Always thought you leave the pool full and toss the loungers and pool deck furniture underwater so it doesn’t blow away

You can do this too.. but some houses flood because their pool overflows and runs into their house. It doesn’t really do much except provide a big hole for the rainwater to go. You can still toss your chairs into the 1/3 that is left, but I like to bring all my stuff inside my house and/or garage.

I’ll update number 10 for your suggestion the next time I post it. Thanks:

It shouldn't get too bad in Venice, right?
Probably miss the absolute worst of the winds but its still gonna be rough and Venice is extremely vulnerable to storm surge. I hope he’s in a structure thats 12’ off the ground.

ETA: if he’s still down there, nothing he can do now besides hunker down because the floodgate that goes across Hwy 23 is closed

It’s got to be coming up on the shelf in that edge of Mississippi canyon now at 308/311 where the reading are coming from. Can’t believe that the shallower water won’t even weaken it per the forecast. Terrible deal.

Already blaming time (not enough of a warning) and destroya is already blaming JBE.

They were both focused entirely on masks

Well folks, I don't think I have ever posted in a hurricane thread but will lose my virginity now.

I have to work tonight in BR. Will be driving in from walker to BR at about 7'ish. Will be out in it all night. Will do my best to give real time updates if capable

It’s crazy that a cat 4, is barreling down on places less than an hour from Lafayette, and we aren’t gonna see much at all. I remember Katrina, it was a gorgeous day for Lafayette.

Let’s hope. Lafayette is still under a tropical storm warning. Any winds 35 mph and above can cause power outages as we saw from Laura and Delta last year.

The eye is going to move right through BR isn’t it? Generational storm indeed.

BR has 100 miles of buffer. They will not be the ones taking up most of the news cycle after this

Grand Isle going to be gone. One of the few places in Louisiana I had yet to visit. Prayers for those that are still there.

I’ve seen radar estimates winds of 158 mph in the eastern eyewall. That doesn’t mean the wind is that strong at the surface, but still.

I'm starting to wonder what the MS coast is going to experience now

Along the coast near MS/AL line. Coastal/beach road about under water. Little rain. Lot of wind with some decent gusts.
