And, remember item #1 on hurricane prep this year - vaccines.

Bad for everybody in the path. This is a rapidly strengthening hurricane.

Probably miss the absolute worst of the winds but its still gonna be rough and Venice is extremely vulnerable to storm surge. I hope he’s in a structure thats 12’ off the ground.

ETA: if he’s still down there, nothing he can do now besides hunker down because the floodgate that goes across Hwy 23 is closed

Venice should see 60 mph winds. Not that big of a deal. But 12-15 ft surge could be life threatening.

60% chance of sustained hurricane force winds for BR. Would be a record.

If you can go west, you will have plenty of lodging options if needed. I know you are hoping not to go as far as Houston but plenty of very reasonable hotels available there (in the event you need it).

Safe travels.

Just saw a hotel in eunice and a hotel in mamou available on expecia

Along the coast near MS/AL line. Coastal/beach road about under water. Little rain. Lot of wind with some decent gusts.

Already high water on the live cam in Biloxi I just looked at.

Unless something changes, we will either get the eye or stay to the west, so it could be worse. But it's not great. We're just lucky we have more land between us and the gulf than other places in SELA.

We need a live cam thread, these are great links to cams but they get lost easily. Anyone feel like creating such a thread?

I said that based on the Recon drops.. they found winds that supported 157+..

I have no dog in this fight. I live in Houston and have been through several storms and i’m just here to help. I want people to be prepared that a really bad storm is coming.. and hopefully I can help someone. That’s all.

How true is this statement? What Katrina did to the East 1/3 of South LA, Ida is about to do to the middle 1/3?
