We are gonna be on a 10 day tour. Gonna hit a few different areas. Any advice on what I may need that I am not thinking about would be appreciated.

Eat fondue. It's great over there.

+1. Gruyere fondue is fantastic.

Go on a chocolate tasting as well.

Bring a light jacket. It gets cool in the evenings.

Enjoy, went several times on family vacation as a teenager. What areas are you going to ? Switzerland is a beautiful country. I would say bring a little more cash than you budgeted, it is a little pricey!

The most spectacular scenery I have ever seen in my life was outside of Zermatt. From the town we took the cable cars up to the top of the Klien Matterhorn, the mountain next to and overlooking the Matterhorn. This is the highest point in Europe that is accessible by lifts. The best view was at the 1st stop down from the top. There is a restaurant terrace up there. From one side you are looking at the Matterhorn. From the other you can see Zermatt way down in the distance. All around you you are looking down on snow covered mountains and valleys. Incredible.

Lucerne and Interlaken were the highlights of our time in Switzerland. Interlaken is just beautiful.

Murren is the most spectacular place i have been. Also, going to the local co-op and buying some groceries include beer saved lots of money

Go skydiving in Interlaken. The have Helicopter options. The ride up through the Alps in a helicopter was just as memorable as the way down. Amazing experience

In response to some of the previous posts:

My favorite Swiss city is Lucerne. Lugano is up there too, but that is closer to Lake Como and the Italian Lake Region than it is to the other sites in Switzerland. I have been to both places twice.

Interlaken is gorgeous and the Jungfrau is probably the most beautiful mountain I have been to but did not see. The day we were in Interlaken it was drizzly, cloudy and foggy and we could barely see the mountain.

We stayed at the Hotel Victoria Jungfrau and our balcony view of the mountain is probably the most spectacular view from a hotel I've ever seen. We've stayed on the Arno river overlooking the Ponte Vechio which is probably our second best view from a hotel room.

You brought up the views from the hotel room. Here are my favorites:
Since we are speaking of Switzerland, I told my tale of the Klien Matterhorn earlier, but #2 con my hotel list was that same time. We stayed at the Semi Hotel in Zermatt. The entire back wall of our room was a window overlooking the snow covered Alps. There was also a great balcony back there.

#1 on my list is the Villa Gabrisa in Positano where we had a 24' X 24' terrace with our room overlooking the Mediterranean, but I digress. This post is about Switzerland.

My favorite part of Switzerland, and one of my favorite parts of any trip I've done in general, was staying in Lauterbrunnen and hiking all over. We used Lauterbrunnen as a jumping off point and hit a lot of the surrounding towns and hikes - Murren, Grindelwald, Wengen, etc.

I thought the top of europe thing at Jungfrau was underwhelming and a waste of time, but we also had the poor luck of whiteout conditions at the top so zero views. Other than the view though the stuff at the top is extremely lame touristy nonsense - a chocolate shop, a watch shop, etc.

Eat some rosti while you're there. It's a breakfast skillet dish like hashbrowns but with raclette and bacon, really good.

Lauterbrunnen:

We used Lucerne as a base (definitely go up Mt Pilatus - incredible views) and absolutely loved it. Lauterbrunnen is like something out of a fairytale. It would be a mistake to skip it.

ETA: as you can see from the replies, everything in Switzerland is incredibly beautiful.

I've come to second Lauterbrunnen as well as rosti.
Stayed in Wengen and explored the area seamlessly.
