Dylan Tebrake interview with Mascona just now said he will sign if he gets his number

With that being said, do we still feel confident he makes his way to campus? Or does this increase the pressure to not only land Hurd, but maybe find other weekend arms via the portal?

We’re not done recruiting pitchers in the portal. If Trebrake is a threat to sign, Jay knew that when he accepted his commitment. If he’s here next year, great, but we’ll be fine either way.

Call me a homer, but I think Little will be a guy for us next year.

I don’t know anything anymore with respect to the draft but as someone said above he was forward with Johnson before he committed so it’s not a surprise for either party.

I have no doubt he will be. I just think Tebrake would help give us some really solid pitching depth. Possibly give us our best rotation since 2017

Tebrake is from Minnesota, big Twins fan, so he's very familiar with Wes Johnson.

Also mentioned the appeal to what Jay's building as far as being an immediate natty threat.

To me, sounds like he would really, really like to come to Baton Rouge but he's not dumb - he's not setting some stupid high number, just what he believes his value is

I’m not MLB exec but I think a successful year in the sec makes that draft stock go up

I think Jay likes him because he is a switch hitter. Hopefully he gets him turned around at the plate. He has an elite glove that’s for sure.

Young has a career OPS of .807 and fielding percentage of .958. Thompson is .773 and .920. Young is definitely an upgrade if it comes down to either or situation. I don't necessarily think an .807 OPS is what we're looking for though-- probably .900+-- so we're looking for more consistent improvement for sure.

Pineda has a career OPS of .908 and fielding percentage of .961 just to illustrate that his track record is on another level. Young is in a similar boat to Thompson.

If he doesn’t win a starting spot, he’s a significant upgrade over our outgoing reserve infielders, and as a switch hitter can hold his own as a pinch hitter, and/or defensive replacement. We really didn’t have an option like that last year. If he plays his way into the lineup, great.

Not coming to ride the bench. Pretty sure he comes in as a starter at one of the infield spots.
