He's not coming here intending to sit the bench, I'm sure. But he can't repeat last year's performance if he wants to start. I'm sure he's hoping Jay can fix his issues, and Jay is banking on getting the sophomore version of Carter Young. I see it as a low risk, high reward for LSU.

Agreed, he wont be a starter if his OPS is .720ish. Needs to be over .800. I like a guy coming here and not being afraid of the competition

Not coming to ride the bench. Pretty sure he comes in as a starter at one of the infield spots.
Coming to compete with Thompson

Pineda is your SS unless he signs. 2B and 3B will get looks from Young, Thompson, Dugas, Romero, and Guidry. White will get a look at 3B. Pearson will get a look at 2B.
If Pineda signs, SS will get looks from Young, Thompson, Romero, and Guidry.
I still don’t think Jay would pass up Denton or Larry, since Pineda, Dugas, Romero, and Guidry are all draft risks, Thompson may look elsewhere, and Young is gonna have to find himself again at the plate.
Stock the cupboard.

I mean you can’t promise EVERYONE a starting job.

Young gains .100 on his BA just not having to listen to the whistler every game

Jay’s determined to not be in the same situation defensively as he was this year. Love it.

Sounds like MS State is the front runner for Amani Larry

I actually would like to see his home/road splits. I was watching some highlights of him homering on SEC teams and I did notice they were away games.

Taking two Vandy transfers could be a long term recruiting play. Both of these guys were highly, highly thought of out of high school but didn't put it together at Vanderbilt. If they come to LSU and everything clicks in just one year, that's a talking point for every guy we go up against Vanderbilt for going forward.

Absolutely. I still love the upside of Little. Odds are we hit on one of those 2 guys.

I wouldn’t mind seeing his L/R AB stats either, in regard to Ks.
Looks better from the L side.

This is a great point.

Agreed Project. If they turn it around it looks good on Jay and bad on the Dores. I would prefer Day because he is a proven commodity but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. I just don't like the risk at this point with Young. Day would have been a plug and play everyday starter hitting over 300.

I expect it will get ripped off by local radio people today that claim they don't read this board.
Except for Hunt, he's open about reading this board.

I get that, but we have to move at our pace and we have holes to fill on the staff and roster. Day took his time putting himself into the portal. We had to work with what was available on our timetable.
