Texas Gov. Abbott Orders National Guard to Help Arrest Migrants

Abbott requested more "manpower" to patrol the border in a letter to Major Gen. Tracy R. Norris, adjutant general of the Texas National Guard. National guardsmen deployed under state orders legally are allowed to conduct law enforcement, The Hill said. "To respond to this disaster and secure the rule of law at our Southern border, more manpower is needed — in addition to the troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and soldiers from the Texas National Guard I have already deployed there — and DPS needs help in arresting those who are violating state law," Abbott wrote.

Its not that he waited til now. It's that the feds and the state operate different checkpoints. And those crossing the border all go to the fed checkpoints because it's guaranteed entry

This has been in the works for a bit now. Arrests started last week. Lots of logistics involved to get it all ready and to this point. Ie...they had to convert a closed prison to start holding them, etc. Sooooo yeah lots of red tape and i's and t's to dot and cross
Obviously no one expected this influx and the feds should be held accountable.

Tents with a cot, a screen door, nearby latrines, picnic tables supplied with powdered milk, water, rice, beans, spam. Only way out is by providing enough ID to establish your claim of 'Refugee' - no printed material acceptable - all testimony must be self-stated in your own language (interpreters provided) Anyone who provides evidence that leads directly to the arrest and CONVICTION of a criminal in their midst or in the actors who facilitated their travel from their home country will receive points in their favor for legal residency. NOBODY goes on public welfare rolls.
You work keeping the prison clean - distributing and preparing the food - maintaining the facilities. Any disruption is cause for immediate expulsion.

I’ve wondered for years why the southern border states haven’t built their own walls/fences/barriers on the border. Illegal immigration has been a problem for 60 years, don’t tell me every border state couldn’t have been budgeting money for a border wall over the past 60 years….

HOw they would hold them is what I was curious about.
Any info on where this prison is and it's size?
I mean thousands are coming in daily so a typical prison isn't going to work.
