I won a DARE contest as a kid and got to go to Six Flags for 3 hours where it was only open to me and the other 100 winners or whatever. Practically having the place to myself was a huge milestone as a child.

Of course, I later became a teenager and would go to Six Flags high, and I felt there was a nice duality in the experiences.

I dropped/flunked out of LSU with a sub 1.0 GPA. Don't ask me how I did it, it was tough. Took some time off, worked, and went back to school in my late 20s. 5 semesters to finish and my lowest GPA for a semester was a 3.8. Finished with above a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

ETA: there was a lot of community college/trade school in between university attempts

I forgot about this one. The last time I made a basketball team was in 7th grade. I was a bench warmer, but I did play sparingly because I was good at defense. One of the starters fouled out.

4th quarter, we were up by 1. The plan was on the inbound to come to me, and I was to hold the ball until our star player got open for a wide open shot. Well, I was determined to show coach that I was just as good as the starters. When I got the ball, I looked at our guy get wide open, and what did I do? Imagine I was Kobe Bryant, shooting a fadeaway mid-range jumper. I air-balled. Fortunately, I was fouled. I did manage to hit both of my free-throws, basically solidifying our win.

Coach absolutely lit my arse up after. Never again did I play for the rest of the season. I wonder if that coach still hates my guts to this day. When I showed up for tryouts for 8th grade, he literally cut me within minutes of practice starting.

Before super nintendo was released they had one on display at walmart. We just so happened to be in walmart and they had some sort of contest on it. It was just to see who could get the furthest in mario or something.

Well I won. I got a free game. Got Super Contra on Nintendo.

Always thought of as one of the least athletic kids in my school growing up (elementary/middle school). Ended up being one of two in my graduating class of the same group of kids to compete collegiately (both of us were D1)

ETA: I loved sports growing up and playing them so i was usually picked on a lot (rightfully so most of the time) for sucking. Was nice getting some vindication when I started running track.

I was the top ranked Tenor 2 in the state of La in 2003.

I got first place in French Extemporaneous Speaking at French convention as a sophomore in HS.

My last hockey game on the Jr. Kingfish. Forgot my contacts at home so I had to play with my glasses on. The kids from the other team kept calling me 4 eyes. Well one guy was coming down the ice with his head down looking at the puck so I got about a 10 foot run up and just crushed this kid. He was down on the ice for about 5 minutes and I went to the penalty box. I wasn’t great and neither was my team, but I’ll never forget standing over this guy after knocking him basically unconscious as my swan song to my hockey career.

I was approached by a college scout at a soccer tournament my Freshman year of HS in Germantown, TN. I as playing two age groups up since they needed a backup goalkeeper. The #1 GK was redcarded 10 minutes into the first game so I got to play the rest of that game and the entire next game. I was 14 at the time, playing against 17-18 y/o and was easily outclassed but managed to make some decent saves and was put on the radar of some smaller D1-D2&3 schools. My dad still tells me how proud he was of me when the scout asked to speak with my parents whom he'd actually been talking to the entire game about my performance.

I also held the Louisiana state record for saves in a HS soccer game in the playoffs, 2000 first round vs. Vanderbuilt Catholic (20 saves)...Pretty sure that has been surpassed since then.

Found a drowned female while fishing and summoned the cops to the location. Assisted the cops in pulling the body out to bank and after being reported on the radio by local DJ for 3 days, a husband came forward and claimed his wife's body.
A Volkswagon Beetle was found submerged at the location with the back glass busted out. Glad to have brought closure to this family.
