He came in when we had some truly remarkably bad QBs and was good. He gets overlooked because Burrow was right after him but he was a damn good football player.

Jarrett Lee. Dreadful freshman season that he was thrust into out of necessity before he was ready, then wins (or, at least, doesn’t lose) The Game of the Century three years later, and may have won a natty for us if we didn’t have a jester steering the ship

He had a really good 2nd year at LSU. Best QB at LSU between the Mettenberger era and the Joe Burrow era.

Also, let’s talk about Mettenberger? Dude was a beast.

Huh? He threw two picks in that game and was (rightfully) benched for Jefferson.

LOL, Lee isn't beating that Bama team.

I remember thinking before the 16 season that LSU had a legitimate championship team. Harris was awful, Etling wasn’t a great QB but he competed at least and wasn’t prone to mistakes. That 16 D was legit.

Bruh, the thread is about underrated QBs. I’m not saying the guy was Joe Burrow or anyone else. But his evolution from that 2008 season to the position he put us in (in spite of the coaching) just three years later is under-recognized and underappreciated
Dude still reps LSU to this day

ETA: Inb4 “but he never played in 09/10”. Yea…we had a lot of squandered talent during those years

But you said he "wins" the game of the century and that's just not true.

He was playing for Alabama that day.

Only one person won that game and his name is Drew Alleman. Stop being a contrarian count. You know what I mean.

We won. He played in the game and helped us cross the finish line. More than you fricking did. Dude is underappreciated as frick for the shite he took and what he gave back to this school at the end of it all

He was a solid SEC quarterback, but he was never anything special... and I mean that in the most respectful way. I don’t think he was under appreciated. Every fan knew he gave it his all out on the field and made the most with what he had. He will always be a very respected LSU Tiger. I feel like every LSU fan appreciates him.

You know how we always joked that JJ had dirt on Les?

Well now it turns out there was dirt to be had…

After a night of binging 07 highlights the uncomfortable truth hit me - Matt Flynn (one of my childhood heroes) was pretty bad

And from 08-16 we begged for someone of his abilities

there's no way to know that for anyone who played for Les. Les made qb worse. that's beyond debate.

Lol hell no. Lee threw 2 god awful picks because he’s absolutely terrified to get hit, that game is a blowout if he stays in. And no QB on LSU’s roster was beating BAMA on 1/9/12. Should they have tried to switch it up to try something different? Sure, but it dosent make much of a difference IMO. Not trying to hate on Lee, he was thrust into a shitty situation in 08 and stuck with the program for 4 years and had some nice highlights, but Jefferson was the right choice in 2011.

The slant king lol, that was LSUs number 1 play that year and they ran it in the redzone in every OT against Arkansas until they finally stopped it because everybody could see it coming a mile away

No! Lee took that hit against Bama and quit. Sorry, not Lee. It takes more than talent to play the game.

The thing I always appreciated about Danny was his toughness. He would take a beating and keep coming back
