That was messed up.

I just read an article on Forbes that says no Wil Smith and no Joker is to blame for the bad box office totals so far. (Less than Birds of Prey).

Sad if this is considered a bomb or suffers the Tomb Raider effect. (When a superior sequel makes less than the original due to people being burnt out on the original)

I also think HBO max should maybe give a two weeks head start to theaters.

I saw it in IMAX yet only had maybe 20 people at the showing.

WB put it on there the same way Disney had been putting movies on D+.
This isn’t true. D+ still costs $30 for the new movies. Only Pixar has been “free.” So there’s a little more incentive for people to go to the theater instead of at home.

Yeah, I'll go ahead and post it. It's a good read. I didn't know the budget was 185 million for this. Just wow

And it's what concerns me about Dune. I think it’s going to bomb as well.

Agreed. It’s going to get rave reviews and then absolutely tank. The trailer premiered in front of my viewing of SS and some guy next to me goes, “the frick is this supposed to be?”

Thought it was pretty good. Definitely worth a watch for the cast alone. It was a fun movie and I laughed a good bit.

I prefer the dark tone of the DC storytelling, for example I thought the Snyder Justice League was great. This ranks up there for me.

Agreed.

Sucks it probably won’t get a sequel. I really got attached to the characters in this one

Disappointing box office results hasn’t stopped DC from moving forward on sequels with their other properties

Could see them trying to go for another one of these hoping there is more hype and good reviews leading up to it given this one is received a lot better than the first.

Pretty sure every studio is just taking a mulligan on box office releases this year, at least until the fall/winter releases.

Damn commie film is the highest grossing movie worldwide this year. It’s made almost $900 million and 99.9% of that is in Commie China.

The Fast franchise continues to amaze me. The new one should cross 700 million. That's incredibly impressive in this current climate.

I watched it last night - It was funny and entertaining, although the 2nd act dragged on a bit. It will be a shame if it doesn't have a decent box office return.

This movie was so awful. Legit one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

I meant that in a "they unilaterally moved it to their streaming service to boost subs" way. Yes D+ costs $30 but that wasn't the point. The point is they weren't selling the movie to the streaming service which is why so many people w/deals that include pay based off box office results are pissed at studios. I got lazy and didn't fully flesh out what I meant. Sorry for the confusion.

Seems like had everything been normal that Fast 9 would have likely gone well past a billion while Black Widow would have been somewhere around $700 million.

It's harder to guess what Suicide Squad would have done since the Delta variant and uptick in infections plus the "free" HBO release but I think it's safe to say that due to the movie's $185 million filming budget it would have had a disappointing result regardless. That sucks too. Essentially WB killed both this and Harley Quinn's BO potential w/the way they bungled the development of the first Suicide Squad movie.

Now the fool who gave Ayer two weeks to write SS then went behind his back and used an advertising post house to re-edit his version to ape Guardians of the Galaxy is going to be running around the halls of WB like he was right all along b/c it made $746m while the person who green lit TSS, pushed to hire Gunn, and gave him that budget is probably on the chopping block.

Im not even surprised considering WB made the retarded move in adding all their movies on HBOMax. That’s how I watched this

I think you just want the "look at me I hate the movie everyone is gushing about" attention more than anything else. Two posts with no substance so far.

I was excited to watch the first one. Even went to the theater to see it. I've never had the urge to walk out of a movie before but it took everything in me not to.

Needless to say, this one was 10x more enjoyable. Figured with them doing a remake just five years later that they wouldn't butcher it a second time.

I did laugh when they killed all those people just to find out they were good guys. That was pretty hilarious.
