Watched it. Was entertained. Not enough to ever recommend it to anyone. First DC movie I watched en entirety since Dark Night 3. Not having seen the first Suicide Squad I was confused if Elba was the same character as Will Smith. This thread answered that question.

Pretty sure that’s why WB announced that all 2022 releases would have an exclusive 45 day theater window. They knew what would happen.

Everything this year is dropping like a rock in it's second weekend. Not one movie has had a decent hold. Even Fast 9 which had no streaming option fell 68%.

Only like 80% of theaters opened back up, vaccinations have lagged which has caused less people to be comfortable going out, the Delta variant has cut that down even more, and there are a shite load of people who flat out don't have the disposable income to be spending on movies right now. Throw in concurrent streaming options for many of these movies or at worst a 3 month wait for films to hit movie channels/streaming platforms and you have a recipe for massively front loaded takes that are nowhere near what they would have been pre CV19.

I think there's a significant portion of the population who realized they didn't need movies, or at least realized watching movies at home is just as enjoyable as going to a theater. I think Hollywood made a mistake by collectively halting every release for over a year.

Saw this over the weekend with my wife, on HBOMax on our projection setup. So, not BIG screen but big screen.

I had 2 friends give me polar opposite feedback after the opening weekend, one hated it (but didn't say why) and the other found it very entertaining. I ended up in the latter camp. It was messy, at times incoherent, over the top violent - which I sometimes do not like but the tone worked for me here. It was gloriously and frequently hilariously entertaining. There were several fall out of my seat laughing lines and moments. I want to look up easter eggs and watch it again at some point - and a highlight reel would be awesome.

I enjoyed it. It's a comic book movie. It's supposed to be campy AF.

I love any time they let HQ go nuts and rescue herself. Margot Robbie is pitch perfect in that role, and it makes me sad to contemplate a day when she won't be playing that character.

That said, did I expect a 5 story cyclops starfish to be the big bad?

I did not.

I watched it at the end of last week on HBO max. I don't love the over the top gore/violence. So that wore on me. The movie was fun. There were some hilarious parts that I enjoyed. It wasn't a great movie, but it was fun.

Especially when you knew ahead of time what was going on.

I just now got around to finally watching the movie yesterday.

I didn't have very high expectations, and I must say this movie totally blew all my expectations out of the water. Such a solid watch, and I was entertained the entire movie. This is easily one of DC's best movies, imo.

Only having seen it once, I think the original has now been wiped clean from my memory.
