Appears that A&M is the current leader for his services as of today.
“I am looking to commit before the season so it won’t be a distraction during the season for me and my team,” he said.

Yep Jimbo has been on him for a while. The number 1 target on his QB board

Understandable with Garrett Nussmeier and Walker Howard on board

I have no clue how he's only got a 91 composite rating. This kid is a legitimate FREAK of an athlete, as per verified testing numbers. Doesn't look like he's gonna be a tiger and that's expected but i'm a bit bummed about it.

It is but we have to find someone who is willing to wait a couple years for his shot. If it’s not Manning or Holstein, so be it. But I think you need at least one QB per class so hopefully one of the out of state guys won’t be run off by a pretty deep QB room.

In fairness, A&M has a 5* QB commit for '22 as well.

Rickie Collins had a strong showing at camp with his arm and that environment doesn't allow him to show off his feet/speed. Top-15 composite QB and could easily continue rising up the board

As some schools bow out of the Arch Manning sweepstakes, I expect the Holstein and Imealeava recruitments to become hotly contested

I've felt for some time that it's less than 50/50 that we sign one of Manning, Holstein, or Collins. At this point the prospect would just want to be here no matter what. Too much uncertainty regarding the QB room, and frankly, who is going to be coaching them when they show up. A lot of that uncertainty may clear up by the time they sign, some will want to make an early decision like Holstein though.

Collins ran a 4.95 40 at the Elite 11 Regional in Dallas is what I was told.

I hope people realize he is still another class out in 23… not 22. Lots of water to pass under the bridge between now and then.

IT's gotta be A&M. With Walker Howard here I just saw no way we'd pull Eli. He doesnt want to sit in the shadow of him and no doubt in my mind is the reason he transferred to another school to start earlier in high school.
Wouldnt surprise me if we end up with a transitional/ultimately ends up in transfer portal QB in the '23 class ultimately. Walker Howard is the pretty clear future after Brennan/Johnson era ends. Not attractive for 2023 QBs. I think we go out and make the splash again in 2024.

Honestly speaking, being an ex-athlete myself, my mentality is that you won't sit in the shadow of anyone if you come there (the school) and ball out. No player no matter how highly ranked they may be coming there will keep you off the field if you are playing much better than they are.

It’s crazy to me that we are to the point, with talent at Qb, that a 4star Louisiana QB out of Zachary is going to go somewhere else and we are just cool with it!

So he’s going to commit to A&M who has Conner Weigman who is rated as the 4th best QB in the 22 class? That argument just doesn’t make sense.
Sucks he’s going to A&M. Eli is going to be a beast. LSU needs someone just as good or better in the 23 class.

Exactly.

Apparently LSU hasn't pressed for him as hard and Jimbo has made him priority #1.

You say that as if Texas A&M hasn't recruited a QB in the last 3 years.
2020 - Haynes King (4 star)
2021 - Eli Stowers (4 star)
2022 - Conner Weigman (5 star)

He already lost out in the QB position to Howard once. Imagine how that would look if he did again and transferred again?

All of those guys aren’t finishing their career there. Including Holstein, 2/4 in their QB room will transfer.
