LSU would take his pledge right now if he offered it
Based on what some in the know people are saying on premium boards, unlikely unless he camped. There's still questions surrounding him they would want answered.

Dude they offered him before he even took a HS snap.
Doesnt mean anything a year later when he has now taken live snaps. Again, staff has questions on him they would want answered in person still if he came by but he hasn't. Dont forget we have a whole new offensive staff since that offer went out a long time ago.
I dont think they'd take his commitment sight unseen at all right now. With him not showing much interest, and questions on our end still, it's pretty much a moot point either way. He's not coming here and we're not that interested unless we can see him in person.

Hey, we offered you before you even took a high school snap. Alabama & Ohio St just recently offered. But naw, we wouldn’t take your commitment
You can believe that, I don’t at all. Especially after just offering Collins & Arch being unlikely.

The current offensive staff did not.

Irrelevant to what we would do.
Not sure how to continue to explain this but again, based on what was said from people in the know, the new staff would want to see him before being on board with taking him for sure. It's not saying anything about him but after his sophomore year the NEW staff has enough of a concern to want to see him in person and he hasn't stopped by so kind of a moot point. If he wont come to camp here, they wouldnt just take him sight unseen at the moment. It's a different staff from the one last year and they have their own concerns on Eli.

Imagine thinking a QB from Baton Rouge is good enough for the two best QB schools in America but not LSU
LSU wants a QB in this class and they offered Collins cause they see the writing on the wall. Of course they would take Holstein. This very minute if he wanted to

Again believe what you want, just relaying what people in the know are saying on the premium boards. We have a new offensive staff which means any offer last year means nothing at this point. They have questions on Eli that would only be answered by him throwing for us in person, he has yet to stop by to answer those questions. Teams offer a ton of guys, doesnt mean they would all taken all those recruits either.
It's not a knock on Eli but not sure why it's so hard to understand a brand new offensive staff would want to see Eli in person before blindly taking his commitment when we all know we're only looking at 1 QB in that class likely anyways. It's a different ballgame when you're talking QB and a new staff. I dont have a ton of doubt they would probably take him if he showed up and worked out, but again, the new staff has questions on them they would want answered before taking a commitment from him. Straight from the people most in the know.

It seems like we,as LSU fans, use the excuse of, “we have (player x)who’s a 5star coming and he probably doesn’t want to be in that long line of talented....”. At some point we have to just assume they want to go elsewhere as much as we hate it. Bama(at times OSU and OU)constantly has 5star after 5star in line at certain positions waiting to play and for the Tigers to get on a run, we need to reach for the same type of depth. I want 5star guys, but I want 5stars that want to be Tigers and aren’t scared to compete bc it lets me know they aren’t scared to compete come game time.
Sure there are some that want the early opportunity to play and that’s fine, but I want that guy who commits and then finds out the NCAA decided to give Joe Burrow 2 extra years at LSU and they decide to sign with us anyway.

The idea that LSU can't sign highly-rated QBs in back-to-back classes is just wrong. That's how it should be.
Everyone else is doing it so there's no reason LSU can't.

Frankly, I would push hard for him and just let Arch go where he wants, and if Arch wants lsu, then worry about it later, but I would take commit from Holstein now if he wanted to, just feels like we pushing so hard for Arch and he's just gonna leave us at alter
This is what i would do. Unfortunately it sounds like it's too late.
I just hate that he is going to a&m.
I think lsu will take rickie collins.
Collins is a very good qb. Wouldn't be mad.

He was going then moved over to Zachary's territory to go there. Again he did not want to be in Walker Howard's shadow for 3 years at STM and only start as a senior. There's no question why he moved high schools like that when his brother was basically a legend at STM.
So, he never actually played behind walker howard?
I thought you just said he sat behind him and saw first hand how great he is.

He knew he was going to be behind his brother and walker howard for 3 years at STM, that was the entire point. The reality hit them hard when Walker started getting huge offers in June 2019, in July 2019 talk then kicks up that he may be moving over to Zachary while his brother played his last season at STM.
Notice the dates there, Walker gets the big offers in June 2019 (LSU, A&M, Bama), then talk of Eli going to Zachary gets leaked the following month. Eli was about to be in high school at STM in just a couple months from then. Its not coincidence. If Walker wasn't there, he would have stayed at STM and followed in his older brother's footsteps. He just didnt want to wait till his senior season to play, which is understandable.

That's not what you said though.
Either way lsu should be PUSHING for eli.
Kid has some joe burrow in him
Big mistake if they aren't doing everything in their power to get him.

How did eli see walker first hand if he never even attended the school?
You are making it sound like he sat behind him for a year and is terrified.

Of course LSU can sign highly-rated quarterbacks in back-to-back classes. Just not this specific quarterback.
It's one thing for Holstein to go to A&M and compete with a 5-star QB that he doesn't personally know. It's another for him to go and compete with Walker, who he knows well and likely knows deep down is better than him.

Walker was Caleb Holstein's backup at STM for 2 years. Eli was around the STM program at that time and worked out with them on a regular basis. He didn't want to wait 3 years to play

I'm not sure why this is so difficult to understand. Eli Holstein is not coming to LSU. (and if he does, no one will be more shocked than the LSU coaches)

Understandable with Garrett Nussmeier and Walker Howard on board
Eli H may be better than both. We go from never having elite in-state QBs to being overloaded in strange a 2yr window. Turns my stomach to see Jimbo capitalize on our anomaly of timing.
