My lab went deaf when she got older…but she had already learned hand signals …no difference in interaction except you had to tap her sometimes to wake her up or get her attention…
Congrats…that is a good looking dog and nice breed!….teach her hand signals as a pup.

Good luck to whoever gets her.
We own a deaf mini Aussie. She has the funky eyes like this one, too, it's a trait common in deaf dogs typically resulting from breeding dogs with too much white in their coats, apparently. Other than that, I agree there really aren't other health issues compared to other dogs.
Training and patience are key. Very easy to train. If they bond with another dog, (which I think is a good thing to help you... we trained our hearing-able dog to fetch the deaf dog for us, since she can't hear us call them to come in), we have noticed a great deal of separation anxiety, just something to think about it.
Bonus - they never get nervous about fireworks or thunderstorms!
