There's quite the difference between watching/obsessing over college football and watching/obsessing over Frozen or the Lion King or Toy Story. Although I'd agree neither are things worth "obsessing" over.

One is taking in an athletic event played by adults with actual skill and talent as people who grew up watching and/or playing the sport while the other is taking in children's books and fairy tales that you're supposed to grow out of and mature past. One is definitely "worse" than the other.

I enjoyed going as a high school kid with some friends and later with my wife and kids. Now that I’m older I want nothing to do with the crowds, heat, lines, fat people running over me in scooters and over priced crap.

Is it now?

Disney World is an entertainment resort designed to appeal to the imagination of children.

I’ve known an adult man with pictures of Mickey Mouse and Goofy in his house.

It’s not the same. All hobbies and interests are not equal.

Some are age-appropriate. Some are not. We have an expanding number of permachildren living within the US.

It must stop

I enjoy going to Disney. The break from reality is nice but what I most enjoy is watching a business that executes at a high level.

The place is clean. The grounds are generally immaculate. A little research puts great meals in front of you. And the employees are exceptionally well trained.

I come back recharged that if their systems can handle that volume of attendance and customer needs, the businesses I deal with can strive to take their operations of a notch as well.

Disney is an amazing system of systems that sells nostalgia, better than anyone else. I’ll probably take my 40th trip there next year. No tattoos for me though.

I sure hope you finally get somebody to go with you. I'm sure 39 trips by yourself have to be lonely.

Real men sit in tiny box sized houses with one window facing the deer feeder while watching movies or reading Tigerdroppings on their mobile phones until deer that have been secretly recorded on trail cam come out for their daily feeding so that we can shoot the one with the biggest horns.

I'm not into Disney so to speak, but I see people on here that are miserable POS that constantly bitch about going. Anyone that cannot enjoy the smile that it puts on a childs face is dead inside. I gladly went several times just to see the enjoyment that it brought to my child. Gladly my kid out grew Disney and now we get to enjoy adult vacations.

Alright, you’ve crossed the line now.

There IS a difference in doing manly things to feed your family versus playing with someone dressed up in a big mouse suit.

To each their own, but for that amount of money you spend to go to Disney you could go to some other really cool places.

I've noticed it's more of an obsession with telling everyone on social media that they're at Disney - they believe everyone is jealous of them when in fact its just the other people who go to Disney to tell others they're at Disney that get jealous.

95% of the world doesn't give a shite, they can spend the same amount of money on three different vacations in different locations instead of handing it over to the mouse.

I don't think that the adult fatties that go are doing it for Disney. They are doing it for the lobster buffet places that are around the park.

This was my thought when we took our kids. For the money we spent to go see fake shite at animal kingdom, we could have gone on a real safari in Africa or a rain forest tour in central/South America.

Jesus. Your defense to people pointing out the Disney thing is weird is to compare it to hunting or college football? Look at that and ponder it.

Watching the way these threads have progressed on this website over the years has been hilarious.

When they first came around, everyone agreed with OP’s point. Then, it’s who can make the most “look at me” comment shaming OP for caring what others do. Now, you have people claiming adult men being obsessed with cartoon characters specifically created for children with G rated content is the same as being obsessed with sports or hunting, two very much adult-geared things.

Yes, what someone else does with their life doesn’t affect us.. but let’s not go overboard and act like ole Larry being obsessed with Cinderella is the same as ole Billy being obsessed with killing a deer.
