Where does that game rank in LSU and NCAA baseball history?

Best game I have watched in years. Instant classic. If you didn’t stay up for it, find it online and watch the replay! Well worth your time.

Every now and then I fall into a hole of watching all-time great LSU baseball games on YouTube. This one will definitely make the watch list.

This is the current generation's 89 A&M

I'll get downvoted into oblivion but our baseball history is so vast this game is like top 15 or even 20.

True. Grit in digging out of a hole. If they don't make it past those Hillbillies next weekend, at least fighting back to sit Oregon down in their own house from the losers' bracket makes this series against Oregon a classic

I disagree with you. It's higher. I ain't gonna give you an e-frown, though. It's all subjective.

Nah. A&M was 54-3, #1 team in the country with a hostile environment.
That 89 regional stands alone.
This was, to me, more like the Cal Irvine 2008 Super. Where the team looked dead in the water but the LSU mystique just found a way to win.

Probably way up the list for Oregon and their fans. They will have a special place in their hearts for LSU for a long time

It’s hard to rank anything not in Omaha…
It’s still hard to see us getting past the monsters in Knoxville, but we got our highlight

In the grand scheme of things at LSU baseball, this by itself isn't yet in the upper pantheon; it didn't even get us to Omaha.
What it DOES remind me of, though, is those football games against USC with Lattimore and Clowney, A&M with Manziel, Florida in the Swamp etc later in Les' career, when the media's attitude was:
"LSU's time is over, and now we'll see this new great team slay the dragon"
LSU might be down, but we ain't dead just yet.

Fun game, yes. But it will barely be a footnote if we don’t at least make it to Omaha.
Go 0-2 or 1-2 next weekend and barely anyone will think anything of this game in five years… at best it’ll be remembered as a flash in the pan for a less than mediocre season.
Win it all this year and we’ll be talking about this game in random TD threads for the next twenty years.
Here’s to hoping we’re talking about it in twenty years.

I know LSU was swept in the series earlier in the year but two of those games were on walk off hits. LSU is a better team now than they were then. Tennessee may very well be too. It will be an interesting series and I think a good one.

Up there with Irvine game 2
was at that game. my son had just flown in from Cali and it was his 1st lsu event ever. got good seats behind 1st base.
he was around 9 at the time. got a little hot for him so we go under the ole box concessions behind home plate. go into the mens room and there is a guy in there with the Irvine jersey on....older man.
Tell him briefly how well their team played the day before and that guy who pitched was just an absolute stud out there. he was very gracious and said, thats my son. i was like seriously, man you must be proud as hell. i said isn't he a twin? and as we're walking out he said yes, here's my other son, and he intorduces him to me. he had just got drafted and was going to Florida to report, and stopped in BR for the game. my son was chilling so i ended up watching the game with these 2 guys durig those last few innings of the comeback. during that time, talking about his son again that pitched the day prior, i said he's deaf right? remembered that on tv all day long when he was pitching. he said, yes, and he told us last night in the hotel room, even though he couldn't hear anything at all, he felt the crowd on his body all game long. said it was impressive.
side note....that lsu fan died of a heart attack right on the other side of the stadium as we were watching that game with this Irvine parent. I think LSU ended up sending the son to the CWS.
my all time personal favorite, that i saw in person, was the theriot winning run vs standford.......but that irvine game and this game rank up there as greats.

Not going to break this top 6 for sure just for LSU
aTm 89
Miami 96
Stanford 00
Long Beach 93
Irvine game 2 08
Texas game 1 09
On the negative side, I'd put Stanford 87 higher than this too.
