Thank you for sharing that. Very interesting! My children were taught in school the civil war was fought for slavery. They were shocked when I explained men do not go to war for a few men to keep slaves when the vast majority did not own slaves. States rights encompassed the north taxing the south to oblivion, hence we got sick and tired of it. I am glad I taught my kids the true meaning of the war, which slavery was only a small piece of the puzzle.

He was just a boy.
How many of us knew anything at 16?
True... However, I would be careful not to judge his 16 through the lense of our culture and 16 year olds... I suspect his 16 was more seasoned in life experiences...

" I didn't have any white children associates, so I played around with the nigruh children" I find it amusing how old south pronounces the N word.

What a shame elitists of today have revamped history and fit-formed it into meeting their narrative to advance a political agenda. The South Was Right!

Straight from the source. The war was all about states rights. Slavery was a very minor cause, if one at all. We all know the North was just as bad as the South when it came to the treatment of blacks, and to be honest, it sounds like from this guy that the blacks didn’t have it too bad back then even with slavery going on. Shows how much propaganda hammered into people for decades can completely change the perception of something.
If slavery was a cause, you can’t call it minor. It’s fricking slavery. The “didn’t have it too bad” line you typed is a horrible terrifying statement. Again, we’re talking human slavery, it can’t be downplayed or brushed aside.

That guy probably had a fraction of the formal education that today’s elites but sounds infinitely more intelligent
Essentially, we know more, but think less.

Interview with former slave of Jefferson Davis
Another interesting one I came across. There’s more slave and soldier videos if you search it up. I’m not going to get all political here. I just like hearing what they had to say

The last part was very interesting. He said the South did not fight for the preservation or extension of slavery. They were fighting for states rights.

So these articles of sucession are fakes?
LINK
I'm not vouching that they are genuine or not, but you're sure they were written in the 30s?

It mean in the Mississippi declaration of secession it specifically declares it was because of the right to own slaves. It's literally in black and white signed by the state's leaders.
I imagine it was pretty easy to manipulate people back then considering people still fall for Babylon Bee articles. I don't really fault anyone that was a front line grunt in that war cause they had no say.
I'm sure every soldier had a copy of the declaration too because printing presses were everywhere.

It’s all just lingual degradation from the Latin. It just means black. Dark.

The old slavery wasn't that bad argument
The veteran says, "I knew of some brutality as I call it exercised against some of the negro slaves." But hey his family didn't do it and he played with slave babies as a kid so slavery wasn't all that bad.

Any particular right they had in mind? Maybe just states rights as a whole?
keep in mind that this was only a few generations removed from those that left the crown because they didn't like to be told what to do. they sought freedom. their kids' kids' (civil war soldiers) were raised in that same manor. don't tread on me, got dammit. don't tell me what to do.
