Plumbing/electrical is a tie with regional and industry playing big factors.

Tell him to learn Spanish and he'll be foreman within a week.

No dumbass, but it can be monitored by a computer and an algorithm similar to the way packages are delivered can map out a schedule of how to most efficiently get to each place to fix the problem. You show up knowing exactly what the problem is so you have the right equipment when you get there and know what you need to do.
You don’t know much about troubleshooting electrical problems.

You are literally retarded when it comes to anything touching electrical troubleshooting.

Your boyfriend must be the man in the house because you have never fixed anything more complicated than changing a lightbulb.

Yes, you are incredibly ignorant and you put enormous effort and pride into demonstrating your ignorance in almost every thread you post in.

Can't go wrong with either Plumbing, Electrical, or HVAC. Here's how I'd rank them though:
1) Plumbing
2) HVAC
3) Electrical

2) HVAC
3) Electrical

How many Mingos does it take to change a lightbulb?

Plumber.
Welders make good pay too, but they often work in extremely tough conditions and usually can only gain income directly related to their hours worked. Also welders have to chase specific locations for good pay and work. Plumbers can find work wherever water and sewer is(EVERYWHERE)
A plumber or HVAC Tech can run their own business/crews and make great money while being hands free of the wrench within 10-15 years of learning their craft.
A master plumber with a couple good hands will forever be in demand and can often name his and his crew's rate.

Right now, he's 18. In as little as 10 years trade industries could be completely different.
Tell him to test for the US Navy’s enlisted Nuclear Power Program.
6 year hitch and he can go right into a Nuclear RO role on the commercial side making 150K per year.

Look, you’re not looking to hustle for 45 years. Tell the kid if he is going into a trade, he needs to decide what will make him his own boss the quickest.
You can retire in 25 years at FD, most of these guys say working Tuesday and Friday a particular week at FD, just work Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at side job. Technically still have that weekend off. The HVAC guy only pulls weekend emergency calls once a month

In 10 years we won't need plumbers, electricians, welders or people to work on AC?
quote:When was the last time the mechanics and operating system of a toilet was so revolutionized that a plumber wasn't needed when shite backed up?
Of course we will, but what we consider plumbers or electricians or welders may be completely different.
And that's only 10 years. This kid has 40 years to go.
Electricians evolve, change with the times. Just like a CPA or attorney has to complete hours of continuing education, so does an electrician.

One to hold the ladder, one to unscrew it, and one to take the other two to the hospital to remove it and the replacement bulb from their assholes.

He must have really done poorly...tell him to learn Revit, or another BIM (building information modeling), software. It would allow for a commercial plumbing/HVAC/Electrical career, or just stick with modeling and building.
