Is it hard to get into Juarez for site seeing? Or is that more of a hassle than its worth?

Had a lot of work trips out there when I lived in Dallas. Nice people, really good mexican food. Downtown is nice for the most part. It would be pretty tough to live there. Desert heat and just doesnt seem like there is a whole lot to do there.

North Mesa near the UTEP campus actually has a nice collection of pretty cool bars and restaurants.
The Franklin mountains also have a bunch of really nice hiking trails if you're the outdoor type.

depends on what you like to do
there are three national parks within easy driving distance
you can go to Mexico safely and easily
Ft Morgan, Alpine, Marathon, Marfa great day or overnite trips
easy access to NM, AZ, CO
the Rio Grande Valley is a beautiful place

I've spent a decent amount of time in El Paso. Great, friendly people, very safe city.
Not a whole lot to do, but it is a nice city.

It's also only about a two hour drive to Ruidoso, NM. Absolutely beautiful place to spend a weekend.

That whole area is beautiful. The drive from Roswell down to Ruidoso is one of my favorite stretches to drive through. Usually, I'm going the other road up through Capitan and Carrizozo which is an enjoyable drive as well (at least to me it is).
El Paso is also a couple hour drive from Carlsbad Caverns. It's not something for a weekend trip or anything, but does certainly warrant a visit if you're in the area.

There's a walking bridge you can take right into Juarez. It's like a bubble with bars, shops, etc that's safer than just wandering into Juarez unprepared.
I agree with most, El Paso is vastly underrated and the people are nicer than pretty much any city I've been to. They've dumped a ton of money into infrastructure as well.
