Employees at some of the country’s largest and most well-known companies would rather permanently work from home than get a $30,000 a year raise — and the results weren’t even close.

The survey, by anonymous professional network Blind, asked more than 3,000 employees on the platform if they would rather permanently work from home or get the extra cash, and 64% took work from home over the raise. The results come as companies large and small navigate a post-Covid world after having gone fully remote for much of the last year — and employees are benefiting from a labor shortage.

I'm part of the 64%. 30k would only net me $1,500/month and I could easily make that up by moving away from an area that I live with higher housing prices.

I.e. moving from a million-dollar home to a $500,000 home would save me $2,000 a month.

Not in...I fricking hated working from home. I just feel more productive at my office..working from home I was in a weird halfway between work mode and relaxtion mode, and was never really fully in either. And as nice as it is to be home..it's also nice to get out. Is different from me though...for me working from home means doing telehealth which is shite.

Me either. You would hardly ever get out of the house, frick that. I wouldn't be as productive because I would want to do stuff around the house.

$30k more per year, while nice, isn't really life changing for me. On the other hand, I don't really want to work from home full time, but would like the option to work from home more often. I'm working from home today and gotten 3 loads of laundry done in between calls and emails and whatnot. About to take the dogs for a walk.

I'd go back for $30k, but I wouldn't for $10k for sure. I'd start thinking about it at $15k.

I just turned down a job for about a 5k raise and a pretty good bonus structure because it was more in office and the office is like 30 minutes away

My last job was a 2 mile commute and ultra low stress. I’d easily go back to it for $30k more.

If I'm home I want to do yard work and drink and shite. This is why I think people who claim to like working from home don't actually do much work.

If you live in a large city where home prices are high, it would make sense to work remotely. Most places in America it would make more sense to take the money.

Why would I be interested in a 1.67% raise?

Wouldn't your employer catch on to this and adjust your salary like the bigger tech companies are doing with their employees?

My productivity at home definitely falls off significantly around 2 in the afternoon. But I also usually get started around 7 or 7:30 and don't take much of a lunch, so I end up working pretty diligently for a solid 7 hours.

I slack off way more at the office.
