A PC has always done everything I've wanted to do.
A lot more software available, some very good free open source software too.

I think with Apple you are paying an extra sum for the name and the imagined prestige.

Macs really shine outside of using Microsoft apps such as word, excel and access. Also web base applications and web surfing are a wash. Email will be a similar experience too

Meh, There are premium Window brand computers too, Dell and Lenovo come to mind that are somewhat more expensive than others.

Personally I believe Mac is well worth the price… for starters I’ve never seen any windows Based PC run as long as a Mac has with reliability I have a 10year old iMac 21.5in all in one, and it still runs better on 90% of applications than any windows based desktop or laptop… most people’s biggest complaint I’ve noticed people have with Macs are when they are going from a windows based computer is they just don’t understand certain things or know how to do certain task that they found to be “simple” on a windows unit… and they don’t realize how simple things with macs are such as uninstalling a program you no longer need or want just drag and drop it in the trash can and click delete bam done.. Macs are 1000% worth the price and 1000% better than any windows based system

Also with a Mac they have a built in program called “boot camp” where you can partition some amount of your hard drive and install a full version of windows 10 onto it and at boot up can simply choose what OS you want to use.. and when using windows 10 on a Mac the performance does so much better than a dell..

Not to mention I bet you could sell it on Ebay and get something for it. Try that with a 10 year old Windows generic box...
every time I upgrade I sell my current Mac on Ebay and good money back for them.

You ruined any credibility here. That's awesome your 10 year old comp still runs for your obviously very light use, but this is a ludicrous claim that discounts major advances by hardware manufacturers, including Apple, over the last decade.

A 10 year old imac has a 1gb HDD most likely and would be crawling with moderate use

My work iMac has a fusion drive and it's nearly as terrible under any strain (heavy dropbox & outlook, big pdfs, etc.).

And I'm 100% apple

To each his own, I guess.
For a lot less money I have been totally satisfied with Windows PC's. They have done everything I've needed from music production, to video editing, to office programs, to internet...
Not saying Macs aren't good, just that I get my needs satisfied for less money.

I keep the box and upgrade the parts inside as needed.

I've used both. Apple makes a great product but the price difference isn't worth it imo

My Dell XPS 13 was about as much as the MacBook air, at Costco at least. Around 949.99.

(XPS 13 fell and damaged the screen)

I guess it depends. For most people they dont need the extra cost of one really.

MacOS owns 15% of the PC market share. If macOS was better than Windows, more people would use it.

That is strictly due to the business market. I was forced to use Windows based PCs at work, for my personal use I choose Apple products, as do most of my friends and family.

“The worldwide PC market saw a strong finish to 2020, recording a third consecutive quarter of year over year growth, although there continued to be supply shortages due to this high demand,” said Mikako Kitagawa, research director at Gartner. “Robust consumer PC demand again drove sales, particularly in regions where governments maintain stay-at-home orders as the COVID-19 pandemic persists. Prior to 2020, consumers had been shifting to a phone-first focus, yet the pandemic reversed this trend. PCs have resurfaced as an essential device as consumers, including younger children, are relying on them to for work, school, socializing and be entertained from their homes.

Business PC spending was again weaker this quarter, as the urgent purchases for remote work peaked earlier in the year. However, in certain regions like China where economic recovery from the pandemic has already begun, business growth was slightly stronger.”

In the quarter that consumer PC demand drove sales and business PC spending was again weaker, Apple had a 14.3% market share in the US.

So? McDonalds sells more hamburgers than anybody else and their hamburgers suck. Appealing to the lowest common denominator is usually not something to brag about...
