That’s very nice of you

less fortunate families.

That are probably already receiving SNAP, P-EBT, and FITAP as well.

Homeschool families don’t get anything, so I really don’t care. But just wanted to set the record straight about the cash so no one will think they can get the cash.

Yes, and the state doesn’t want them off of it either bc the more you have on government assistance the more federal funds you get.

That’s nice, 08, but we don’t need it either. I just wish all of these ‘programs’ would go to people who actually need it and use it properly. Since I used to work for them, and then temporarily received SNAP after Katrina - I’ve been on both sides. You probably should just use it on yourselves bc it’s your tax money anyway. But you do as you see fit (not my business anyway)

We talked about it and just would rather buy the groceries and give the groceries to the food bank. $500 in groceries can help more families than just my one family.

That’s great. I know of some families that are above the limits for gov’t assistance that are depending on food banks. Most of the time it’s not these families, but hopefully.

Wow. This in top of all the other stimulus is crazy.

It’s never ending. Notice the amount of new Altima’s, Sentras, ect on the road. It’s nuts.

Pretty much. It’s ridiculous. I mean once in a while it’s ok, but when the whole month’s allotment is blown on stuffed chicken breasts … that’s not right.

hey look SS, you and children in Louisiana have something in common: a wealthy benefactor to pay for your meals.

Imagine being so naive that you think this money will be spent on kids.

A while back, my church would send back packs full of food home with kids on Friday afternoons. The church quit doing this when they got word that the kids were stuffing themselves with as much of the food as possible on the bus because they would not get to eat any of it when they got the food home.

So, either people didn't apply because they didn't need it, or they are such worthless "parents" that they don't care if their kids eat. Which means this is a waste of tax money, as either the kids don't need it or it's not going to lead to them being fed nutritious food, imo.

COVID fricked the calculations on this due to layoffs dropping families below the threshold.

In addition, having X% of kids on free lunch means the entire district gets it.

1 in 6 kids go hungry

Free meals galore, yet 1 in 6 children go to bed hungry each night.

Some things just don't add up.
