And one of those Asian countries is China. Yeah, let’s emulate them. You know who doesn’t want us to emulate Asian countries? Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and India. Sorry, they know the stakes here even if most Americans don’t.
Japan and South Korea both do masks during flu season. It's not a Chinese led thing and it's not some "giving the Govt a cookie" hyperbolic analogy you just made either. There is nothing wrong with taking basic steps to mitigate the spread of common communicable diseases. You may as well be crying about washing your hands while you're at it.

Dr. Anthony Fauci predicted Sunday that mask-wearing could eventually become “seasonal” as protection against ailments like the flu that can also be spread through the air.
He can frick right off. The flu has been around for a long time and there has never been a need for masks.
This guy is off his rocker and needs to be put out to pasture.

Here’s what you don’t understand
Here’s what you don’t seem to understand. As usual you go off on tangents that are somewhat related but not completely. My point is on lockdowns and Fauci still being looked favorably upon. Just because people might start to despise China more that does not mean they will do a 180 on their lockdown stance. It’s totally possible people can both despise China while also being highly in favor of lockdowns. Not sure why in the world you think that’s one thing. Just go Reddit, plenty of China hate on there while simultaneously pumping up the lockdowns.
quote:
You asking me to accurately explain China to you is like asking a nuclear physicist to accurately explain rocket propulsion to you.
Where the hell did I ask you this? Show me the exact statement where I did. I didn’t even talk about people’s fear of China. I didn’t even state my opinion on them. You’re putting a lot of words into my mouth and going off onto tangents in typical fashion like you do on the MTV board. The only thing I said was people could blame China while also blaming the US response as lacking. I saw so much of that already over the last year. With people saying screw the CPC while also blaming Trump and red states for any spread.
quote:
20 years from now when we no longer run the world, people will see Fauci as Enemy Number 1 and the most guilty person who sold our country to the CCP.
This is what I was talking about. The results are the same but people can interpret them differently. We have seen this throughout human history and we will continue to see that in the future. Even if China has clearly surpassed the US and people hate them, that does not mean they will change their stance on Fauci, lockdowns, or their collectivist mindsets.
quote:Not always. People still twist things to fit their world view. The last few years have shown me that. Even beyond that too. Like I said FDR wasn’t this brilliant POTUS like he is held up as.
The truth eventually reveals itself. It tends to find a way.

There is when it's a government mandate.

And by preventing people from being exposed to everyday viruses, including flu, in daily life over a long period of time, the immune system won’t have the same level of immunity to those infections. So when a particularly virulent flu strain emerges and people have reduced immunity to the flu virus, its going to be right back to lockdown. You would think a supposed infectious disease expert would know better, but he enjoys the authoritarianism of mask mandates and then a reason to shut everything down again is a bonus

I don’t mind it being voluntary during cold and flu season. Being sick like that just a wastes people’s vacantion days and PTO.

Have you missed how quickly that turns into a social edict from the Left? Virus numbers have plummeted, there are 3 vaccines that anyone can now get, and people are still expecting others to wear these goddamn masks all the time.
Yeah, fine, but you are tilting at windmills here. There will be no edict to wear masks in flu season in the absence of the pandemic. This is another loopy right wing exaggeration like: “This will be over after the election.”

So? We’re not Japan and South Korea and I’m glad we aren’t. If you want to live like that, then move there.

If tens of millions of people have starved to death over this and some projections say it could be as high as 1-2% of the world population (the exact percentage we were warned may die if we don’t lock down), then I don’t see how you couldn’t instantly be outraged. They’re going to have to try to hide that number if it’s even remotely higher than the total Covid death toll.

You're the one who brought up Japan and South Korea to say they'd never follow China not knowing it's long been common for their populaces to mask up during flu season.
But hey, keep on talking out of your arse if you must.

I’m not talking about them not being outraged but it comes down who they put the blame on. Like I said they could just as easily say that’s why we should’ve locked down earlier and harsher. As ridiculous as it is they are coming from the viewpoint that the lockdowns work. We’ve already seen so many comparisons to Australia and NZ among many other countries though they’re not comparable. In these people’s minds, if we had all done what they said, the virus would’ve been gone quickly and none of these additional deaths you speak of would’ve happened. It’s dumb but my point is people can interpret results and causes differently.
Also think about this. If they were to say the lockdowns were wrong and people like Fauci are villains, that would mean they’re saying Trump and the red states were right. I know a lot can change in 20 years, but given the absolutely intense hatred they have for the “other side”, I just can’t see it. I can see them softening up a little but what you’re talking about here is them doing a complete 180 on their politics right now. By them I mean the vast majority of democrats admitting Trump and his supporters were right about Covid. The main they had against Trump was Covid. You really think they’re basically going to admit they were wrong about Trump?
