Jeffersons way ahead of Sanford & Son.
Murphy Brown at 56. (shouldn't even make the cut)
Night Court at 96. (top 30)
Friends at 38.
No Family Ties. No Martin. And, if I'm not mistaken, no Married...With Children?
List is a troll.

Sanford & Son way under ranked at 80. Also I can’t believe 13 shows are better than the first 5 seasons of Andy Griffith with Don Knotts.

Night Court at #97 is an insult to the Night Court community.

Rolling Stone magazine has been out of touch with the real world for a very long time.

I like Frasier and Andy Griffith getting some love in the top 15.

Animated shows are not sitcoms.
They can be. Don’t be snobbish.

I think it was #13 but still ridiculous. I'd put Frasier, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Arrested Development all in the top 10.

Larry Sanders Show is still so incredibly funny. Elite show.

The fact they have The Office outside of the top 20 and Parks inside the top 10 is absurd.
Without The Office, Parks doesn't get the recognition it has received. The Office showed goofy business environment shows can be great
I think Parks just had a much deeper cast.
Once you get past the big 3 in the office (Jim/Dwight/Michael), there’s a ton of people between them and #4.
Tom
Leslie
April
Andy
Ron
Ben
Chris
Also, the one lone obvious comparison (Rashida Jones), actually has moments worth something in PnR.
I find The Office more rewatchable, and it should be higher than PnR imo because it’s more emotionally engaging, but I don’t think it’s funnier.

Also, Scrubs at 53 is crap.
Raising Hope never gets any respect. That show is so underrated. It’s legitimately funny without having to crap on any characters. You always have a smile when you watch it. Also, how many shows can boast a female cast that’s as funny as the male cast both in quality and quantity?

All that other trash and they left out Married With Children? What a joke.

Looking back at this again, this list is mostly crap. They hit on some of the obvious big stuff (Honeymooners, Seinfeld, etc.) because they had to and probably held their nose doing it. Everything else is a mess.
There's too much new stuff and not enough classics. There's too many weird cartoons, foreign shows and "diversity hires". And while I like some of the hidden gems (like Party Down), it's not really fair to put brief runs on the list. Police Squad aired 6 episodes and nobody watched and they ranked that #50? The entire run was basically just a rough draft of the Naked Gun, which everybody has seen and enjoyed anyway.
Here's a basic list of what they left out:
From the 60s: Ozzie and Harriet, Father Knows Best, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeanie, Leave it to Beaver, My Three Sons, Giligan’s Island, Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, Gomer Pyle, Hogan’s Heroes, The Adams Family...
From the 70s: The Brady Bunch, Welcome Back Kotter, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Rhoda, Three’s Company, Alice, Mork & Mindy, One Day at a Time, Chico and the Man...
From the 80s: Family Ties, Growing Pains, Different Strokes, Facts of Life, Silver Spoons, Who’s the Boss, ALF, Newhart, Benson, Gimmie a Break, Too Close for Comfort, Moonlighting (sort of), The Hogan Family...
From the 90s: Married with Children, Home Improvement, Wings, Full House, Family Matters, Coach, Mad About You, Evening Shade, Northern Exposure, Spin City, Ellen, Just Shoot Me, Drew Carrey Show, 3rd Rock from the Sun...
From the 2000s: Two and a Half Men, That 70s Show, King of Queens, Family Guy, According to Jim, Rules of Engagement...
I would say half of those belong on any list of 100 greatest sitcoms of all-time. They may not be from your generation or they may not have been your cup of tea, but you have to acknowledge the impact they had at the time and the footprint they left on the industry.

ALF
If this came out in the 2000s people would still think it was avante garde.
But it came out in the fricking Family Ties 80s.
I don't know why it doesn't get the historic love.
Alf was the subversive anti-hero protagonist that we now know and love but it was alien back then.

Seinfeld is #1. Sorry, it just is. I'm glad they put the Honeymooners in the top 10.
Where is Family Ties? Where is Married...? Where is Hogan? The sitcoms of the 60s, 70s and 80s should have made up 80 percent of this list.

Where is Family Ties?
Speaking of Family Ties, was there a better lineup in TV history than NBC on Thursday Nights in the mid 80's?
8:00 Cosby
8:30 Family Ties
9:00 Cheers
9:30 Night Court (I think)
Cosby,Family Ties and Cheers all came in 1,2 and 3 in the Nielson ratings consistently and Night Court in thw top 10

1986
Cosby
Family Ties
Cheers
Night Court
Hill Street Blues/L.A. Law
They're never going to repeat that.
Cosby was #1 for a long time, Family Ties peaked at #2, Cheers eventually hit #1, Night Court peaked at #7, L.A. Law peaked at #12. That was the original and probably only Must See TV.
