21 weeks.

Last years bow opener was about as good of weather as you can ask for in Louisiana on Oct 1. Had some good campfire sitting and bacon wrapped venison on those cool nights.

Just got the bow tuned up and new sight needs to be sighted in. I saw two of the bigger bucks I've seen hunting last year, didn't get a shot on one, missed the other (with a rifle of course). I'm pretty sure they lived to see another year.

150 HOT, long, miserable fricking days until the best time of year.

I'm so ready.

I'm about to start really shopping for my new bow.

I need to redeem myself for last year.

I missed the biggest deer of my life in MO and then I had an absolute stud, double drop tined buck at 20 yards but never could get a clean shot on him on LA public land. That bucks still haunts me. I just hope he survived the season.

I picked up a Mathews V3 31 from Chag's a few weeks ago. Love the bow.

Dang man! That would make me lose sleep. You just got to go get him this year.

The bad part about my miss is I had my gopro going, so I get to relive whenever I want. LOL.

I bought a new (to me) bow. A carbon RX-3 that is in nearly new condition. Saved about half of what a new V3 or RX-5 cost. My old bow was 8 years old and it wasn't a flagship bow back then anyway. Can't wait!

I am most excited about the new Black Gold 3 pin slider I put on it. I have had a HHA single pin for years, and I just did way too much thinking in the stand.

I'm 100% LA public land, and I have some studs on camera, but they are real slippery. My dad killed a nice 7 year before last. I was about a mile down the 4 wheeler trail past him, he setup right off the 4 wheeler trail. I had caught some kind of stomach virus so at about 11 am I called it quits and texted him that I was headed out and coming past him. About 30 minutes after I pass he calls me that he has one on the ground. That buck walked in my tire tracks. Slippery, slippery. But we won that day.

Not sure which bow I'm leaning to quite yet

just going to go to the local shop and shoot a bunch

I've been shooting a 20 year old bow for well...20 years, so anything new is going to be an incredible improvement

You have no idea

I had clear shooting holes on both sides of him, but he was chasing a doe, came running in, and stopped right behind some thick stuff. All I could see was his rack. Those glorious, goddamn drop tines...will probably never see one again. He stood there for what felt like forever, and then took off running again. I almost threw my bow.

me too except for the week where me and some buddies lease a farm in MO

That V3 is the nicest one out there to me. I worked with Sammy over there for weeks and was so close to pulling the trigger. Couldn't get past the $2,300 loaded out price tag though.

I haven't been in a the bow market for a long time, so I was hoping to be able to get something decent in the $1200 range

is this even possible now?

I bought a Hoyt Axius Alpha loaded out for like $1400 last year. You don't need to spend 2k for a nice bow.

Bare bow most definitely, but I wanted all new everything. Sight, quiver, stabilizer, rest. I think it actually rang up to around $2,100 with tax, but I also bought a new release. Ended up with a year and a half old RX3 for $985 with the rest and quiver.

I've got a 25 year old Mathews Featherlite that hasn't been shot in about 10 years. I might go get a new string for it and attempt to kill something with it this year.

I start protein feeding at the camp this week. Fill feeders with protein and put out mineral blocks.

I've been shooting a Mathews z7 xtreme for a decade

The Hoyt Ventum 33 has me very very curious though. I'm planning on going see Sammy in the next month or so and shooting the V3 and the Ventum.

A lot of side by side reviews are liking the Ventum better but it's really all what fits me best.

Just got my bow back 2 weeks ago from Sammy. I dropped it off Mardi Gras week. He’s just that busy.

I’d never pay 2300 for a new bow loaded out. Go on archery talk. People sell 1 yo bows all the time for a huge discount. Same for sights, rest, quivers. Even arrows. I don’t think I’ve ever bought new except my first bow bc I didn’t know any better.

That's exactly what I did. Sammy really helped me a lot. I planned on buying a Ventum. After shooting both the V3 and Ventum side by side, the V3 just seemed better. Especially after the shot. D.E.A.D. in hand. You got to shoot them and see for yourself. I prefer my RX-3 draw cycle over the V3. Everyone has gives/takes.

Sammy had some good advice too on the finish. I was going with a solid color, but he looked at my old bow and asked what kind of hunting I did. I told him public land, lot of walking, beating bushes, sometimes slipping down an embankment, no permanent stand etc. He said stay away from the solid color, it will show every scratch and nick and I'll end up hating it. The camo patterns are so busy it hides scratches well.

Last year my wife tested positive for covid on September 27th and I had to take 2 weeks off of work. I killed my biggest buck ever on opening day and a few more deer in the following weeks. I'm hoping this year is great as well. I feel like last year I really hit my stride bowhunting. 5 total with a bow.

I just sent my bow in to be restrung and tuned up. I haven't been fishing because my freezers are still packed . Good problem to have.

I didn't kill this one while hunting. I was sitting in a box stand.

I shoot an Ultralight. It kills the hell out of em. Quiet, light, and accurate.

I've been shooting a Mathews Legacy since 2002.

I killed 3 deer with it this year.

Old bows will still kill the crap out of deer.
