Looking for what you think is the best sound...

For me the walking in spikes or metal tip cleats walking across concrete or having an away crowd boo the home team.

For the first one it means it is time to go or get ready and the second sound is your group has made their fan base realize they have no shot.

-When the home basketball team is on a roll and they put up a three-pointer. I love the preshot murmurs, the silence as the ball is traveling, and the explosion when it goes in

-Any CFB song that gets the whole crowd singing. Callin Baton Rouge, Rocky Top, Dixieland Delight, etc.

The pop of a fastball hitting the catcher's mitt.

The swish of a perfectly hit golf shot.

Football - the collective boom/ohh from the crowd on a big hit everyone sees coming from a mile away.

I don't know if this counts because I guess its not an "event", but I love the sound of sneakers squeaking in an empty basketball court/arena

I may be cheating because I'm not sure how well, if at all, you're hear it at a sporting event, but nothing tops the sound of a basketball shot that swishes the net.

I was at 2019 Masters. The Tiger roar really is something unique in golf. You’ll be half the course away with no idea the specifics of what happened but you know it was something big from Tiger.

No matter the sport, it's the sound of the crowd. There's nothing like the sound of a European football match. Nothing. A Saturday night in Death Valley is a close second tho.

95 Super Bowl in Miami, my first one:

Around the beginning of the 3rd qtr, game was so boring that I could hear a desk phone ringing in the press box and I was sitting about 20 rows up around the 10 yard line.

Not exactly the 'best sound at a sporting event' but did open my eyes how much better this particular event is on TV...

The engines firing up just before a NASCAR race and the smell of the engine fuel immediately afterwards.
