What are some "odd" flavor pairings that you like?

One that I like is bananas and coffee. I suppose it's not that odd if you've ever had a piece of Banana bread with a cup of coffee but it seems as if it would be odd

Chocolate pairs surprisingly well with some savory items, which is why I'm looking forward to seeing what ideas people come up with for the next FDB challenge

Peanuts and/or peanut butter seem to pair well with heat as illustrated by some different chutneys and curries

I've heard some blueberry based sauces go surprisingly well with red meats like lamb and beef but I don't believe I've ever tried it. It just doesn't sound appealing.

Unsure on lamb and beef, but blueberry sauces go very well with duck and pork.

This isn’t something I do, but I was just saying a few minutes ago I don’t see how people can drink fruity drinks with food. Like Koolaid, pink lemonade, Gatorade, etc. I don’t really like those drinks in general anyway, but I definitely couldn’t do it with a meal.

I really like cheese with honey or some sort of jam/preserves. Like a brie grilled cheese with fig preserves or something like that.

Only things I can drink with a meal are water, unsweet tea, or wine/beer.

I usually just go with water

Maybe not odd but I’ve had people surprised by these but I’ll submit:

Strawberries or watermelon with balsamic vinigarette

Peanut butter and hot sauce

Not me but my dad loves watermelon and soy sauce. Don’t know why but he loves it. On top of that, he’d tell you awesome it is while eating. I would always shake my head.

This is trashy as hell, but I like to dip pizza rolls into mustard.

That actually sounds good to me

One of my other side research projects if you could even call it that is trying to find more dishes to add mustard to

I've heard of some people putting black pepper or an all purpose seasoning like a creole seasoning on watermelon

I was at lunch with a broad that doused her red beans with ketchup and mustard. Legitimately gagged when I witness this atrocity.

I don’t think this is odd - it’s more refined - don’t you think?? (Or maybe bc we eat that, too)

I like spicy chocolate
