I sometimes carry a snubnose 357 but usually carry a Canik TP9SC. Love this gun. Such a smooth trigger. It’s a joy to shoot and it’s fine for a nightstand gun too.
I think I paid around $430 for it from Academy last year.
Got on for old lady love it!

P365. IMO it’s the best micro compact on the market.

Appendix seems better than pocket carry.
I agree. OP said he was looking for something to pocket carry.

i might be in the market for both actually. there are times when i would rather pocket carry. i might end up just using my .380 Bodyguard for those times. I was just hoping to find a 9mm option that would work comfortably.

I’ve got a kydex pocket holster that hides the LCP pretty well, but the bigger issue is being able to get it out quickly. I don’t pocket carry unless I absolutely have to,
Pocket carry access is really a problem if you're driving (and presumably wearing a seat belt) or seated at a desk at work, or seated in a restaurant, or .......
I've had well over 1000 people take my CCW class. Some were focused on comfort, or the visual appeal of the gun. Most were focused on self defense.
My opinion --- I want the most reliable pistol I can find, and want a holster that (a) covers the trigger, (b) is accessible and (c) securely holds the pistol.

Same with women a keeping gun in their purse.
I never got the no holster deal. It defeats the purpose of having proper form and lengthens time to fire.

So is 4 o’clock, IWB or OWB. I’ve gone to a cross draw found I like it for almost everything assuming I can wear an untucked shirt. I wear it more the the front so it ends up being a left appendix carry but OWB. Pocket carry is for limited situations, including those where somebody doesn’t want me carrying.

Definitely one of the ones I’m considering. H&K seems to make great firearms.
The P30SK is such an awesome weapon. It's too fat for me to carry most of the time and has no real role for me anymore but I love it. The 13 round mags make it a dream to operate.
As for carry, just recently moved from a Kahr PM9 to a 365XL.

I have a G42 for pocket carry, G43X and Walther PPS for IWB carry.

It’s the regular P365 slide/barrel paired with an XL base. So it’s small like the P365 but with 12+1 capacity. It’s so great.
But then you lose the option of carrying a slightly smaller weapon with the 10 round magazine. And, if your clothes allow, you can load the 12 or 15 round. Unless your hands are just too big, the P365 gives you more options.
ETA - I’m sorry for your loss.

I would add (d) comfortable. If it's not comfortable you won't wear it and then it's pointless.

Have an M&P Shield. Nice gun, wanting to get the Plus. Held one the other day and it felt sweet, same size, and my holster works with it so no accessories to buy. Trigger didn't feel drastically better but didn't live fire so not sure how it works during operation.

Personally I'd stick with the Bodyguard 380 for pocket carry but if I had to go 9mm, Keltec PF9 would be the only option for realistic pocket carry.
The PF9 is not as chonky as the shield plus or the sig p365 and practically half the weight. The only con is you take a capacity hit.
If you end up getting a heavier, bulkier gun, it's going to end up staying at home more often than not rather than being in your pocket.
380 is king for pocket carry and a solid choice with the right defensive ammo. Personally I'd stick with what you've got unless you do plan on going aiwb where 9mm makes more sense.

I’m in the market for a conceal carry pistol, preferably one that I can carry in my pants pocket. I have an M & P Bodyguard .380 that I’ve had a few years, but I’m wanting something chambered in 9mm.
JYD,
Welcome to the world of cc. It's good the LSP got your approval fairly quickly.
I pocket carry a lot, mainly due to work constraints. When I pocket carry, it's a Kahr CW380. The only gun that can reliably cc in the usual sized pants/pockets is a micro 380 like the CW380. Similar guns that'll fit in nearly all pockets include the Kel Tac P3AT, Ruger LCP, Beretta Pica and others. I want my pocket carry gun to have as smooth a frame as possible, w/o an external safety lever, grip safety or beavertail. All those features make it more likely to snag during the draw.
OTOH, you said you prefer a 9mm. Admittedly I'm not a big guy (5' 9" 175#) but I wouldn't be able to pocket carry many of the guns mentioned so far, unless I was wearing cargo pants. Having said that, I do pocket a 9mm at times. I started out using a Kel Tec PF9 for pocket carry, but later moved to the Kahr CM9. The CM9/PM9 is the smallest mass produced 9 mm you'll find. Others of similar size include the aforementioned PF9, Ruger LC9 and Beretta Nano. The Shield and Glock M43 are a little to big for me for pocket carry. As small as it is, the CM9 is suitable for pocket carry in only CERTAIN pockets. The gun has to be small enough not only to fit in your pocket, there must be enough room in the pocket for you to get a good grip on the gun. If the many double stacked 9mm's that've been mentioned here work for their owners w/ pocket carry, that's great. But do yourself a favor and try putting one of these holstered double stack 9mm's in your front pocket before buying one. Although the Kahr CM9 is a fine gun that suits me, it's trigger is different from the typical Glock/striker type trigger. The Kahr has a longer, but smooth, double action only type trigger. If you want a striker trigger, the Kahr's probably not for you.
Sounds like you've done a lot of good research. Now it's time for you to handle, and if possible, shoot them to see which ones handle the best for you. Don't forget to slip the guns you're looking at into put the pockets of the pants you'll wear. Remember to leave room for the holster, as well.
Kahr CM9, top. Kel Tec P3AT, bottom.
Kahr CW380

I won't argue that the OG 365 gives you some options that the X takes away...However, for my use the X was a better value. Consider:
- The X comes with the flat trigger
- The X comes with a milled optic-ready slide (actually mine came with the Romeo Zero already installed, which isn't a great optic but whatever)
- If you think you want the extra capacity, you already have the mags for it.
So, I saved a boat load with the X over modifying the OG for what I wanted (extra capacity plus optic), never mind the peace of mind that I got with having an optic ready slide from the factory vs. trying to get that modified locally.
I tried both (OG and X) with appendix and 3 o-clock IWB carry, and I didn't notice a comfort difference. CC'ing with the XL is where the comfort starts to get you.
