So how was my statement not true?
Because this wasn’t your statement

quote:

Barbe is the standard for Louisiana baseball
Your statement alluded to the fact winning D1 meant you still didn’t even have a chance of winning 5a

And, I pointed out to you, that D1 schools made up 40% of state titles so it seems winning it even without barbe is a pretty good chance you could have taken combined 5a as well

Pretty simple

Let’s go even further back. 20 years in combined 5a

WM- 1 title
Northshore-1 title
Rummel-1 title
EA- 1 title
St. Amant- 1 title
Catholic- 2 titles
Jesuit- 4 titles
Barbe- 9 titles

So 5 different public schools, 3 different private schools
55% of titles won by not Barbe

Teams with 2nd most and 3rd most titles are privates

So yes, Barbe is absolutely the gold standard. But your comment alluding to the fact it’s impossible for a private to win in 5a seems foolish

Also, Barbe voted for the split, so clearly they didn’t want anything to do with Catholic and Jesuit anymore...... Which is PEAK Louisiana mentality

Talking about next school year.

They aren’t redoing the districts like they would have been if not for COIVID. things will stay the same for the 3rd year

not sure yet if they are not gonna just let it roll over for a following year yet or not too so that teams can do non district home and home contracts.

Is anyone else having issues watching any of the games on NFHS? The feed keeps buffering and won’t play for me. My internet is fine, as everything else is working perfectly normal, but for some reason, I can’t watch these games.

Yes I was having that issue yesterday. They completely lost connection at one point for about 5 min and then when it came back everything worked well.

Would anyone happen to know why Zeb Ruddell isn’t playing for Neville right now?

Parkview two games away from restoring order. Almost makes me think ML is coaching again.

4A and 5A is such a wide gap now. West Ouachita swept Neville in the season and were rated 22 in 5A while Neville is 4 in 4A. WO lost in the 2nd round and Neville is in the semis. Several other examples too

4A is pretty watered down thanks to the split

Big time. It used to be a good league with publics like Neville, belle chasse, WO, Tioga, Breaux Bridge, etc. and private like Teurlings, STM, Vanderbilt. I’m sure I’m missing others but that’s a pretty good nucleus of good to great programs for baseball. When I played Ruston and Sam Houston were both still 4A as well.

St Michaels was 4A as well.

In fact, the year before the split it was 3 privates (STM, Teurlings, St Michael) and Tioga as the lone public.

West Ouachita and Benton both moving the 5A hurt 4A as well.

A group of WO, Tioga, Neville, Breaux Bridge, and Benton was a pretty good 4A group without the privates

Tioga advances to the final beating Neville 8-2.

The other semifinal is in extra innings. North Vermillion took a 5-3 lead into the 7th and S. Terrebonne hit two solo homeruns to tie it at 5. NV then stranded a runner on 2nd in the bottom half.
