How do you make your tuna salad?

I have some cans of tuna I need to get around to consuming soon.
I usually do a simple tuna salad with boiled eggs, mayo, and relish. It's edible but I'd like to change it up.
Looking at some recipes I like the idea of adding some shallots that are lightly sauteed.
What are some other tips for elevating this relatively uninspiring dish?

Do you like fennel seeds? I sometimes put them in tuna salad.

With fresh tuna rather than canned tuna. We have tuna steaks often and always get way more than we can eat so that we can make tuna salad with the leftovers.

Definitely sounds like an upgrade but I hate to waste food and want to make something decent with this

Italian - olives, capers, lemon juice, olive oil & seasonings
Mediterranean - similar but with sundried tomatoes, diced fennel, red onion, olive oil, seasonings
French - shallots or green onions, diced cucumbers, Dijon mustard, mayo, tarragon
These are a few I've made. Also Asian with green onions, carrot, soy or ponzu, ginger & mayo

I add celery for crunch, chopped sweet pickles, a little minced onion, and mayo. Sometimes I'll chop some apple and add to it.

We use a little Lemon Pepper in ours.

About the same as you, but I add a healthy dose of Tabasco, super-finely diced onions, and super-finely diced celery

Not in a salad, but tuna cakes might interest you.
I like tuna salad to be simple with Mayo, dill, eggs and onion. Capers are good.

I make sure it is dill, not sweet, relish, and add finely diced celery and onion.
Once on the bread, I like to add either sriracha, Crystal, or green Tabasco sauce.

Diced apples taste good in it
