I was born in 1970 and grew up in a suburb west of Atlanta. It was semi-rural then but overrun with sprawl now. I had a large black community about a mile from where I lived. Some of my best friends lived there. White kids and black kids daily rode bikes to each area to play, fish in the creeks, meet at the park that was tight in the middle to play ball. I would eat supper at there house and they at mine. I spent the night at many of my black friends houses and they at mine. Our dads coached little league sports together, etc..
I don’t recognize this country anymore from my youth. We were heading along to harmony and healing the scars of the past until about the mid 80s when the race pimps took control and ruined it all. Multi-Culturalism and grievance industry agenda put a stop to true progress.
As kids, we just liked people for who they were on the inside and race had nothing to do with it. I miss the progress of the 70s. It was the golden age of race relations progress. That was the peak when black people who wanted to embrace the opportunity for a better life for their families were moving to middle class suburbs, black dominated TV shows (Good Times, The Jefferson’s, etc.) received prime viewership from whites and blacks, etc.
We were organically tracking to becoming a truly harmonious society in America. Imagine where we would be 40+ years later from the mid 70s had the opportunists not created a racial grievance industry.

I went to public schools in Jackson MS in the 70's-80's, I don't remember any black/white problems. I've had band members that were black and one of my best friends is black and was my room mate at one time.

I've lived my whole life in the South, so I've been around plenty of black people. Some of the nicest people I've ever known have been black. But also, most of the shittiest people I've ever known have been black.
On the whole, black people have been the worst group I've dealt with. My opinions of them are solely based on their actions. Whites and hispanics will treat you fair if there is a long-term benefit. Blacks will screw you over for $50 and not think about the thousands they could make in the future.
Also, I can pump gas in white and hispanic neighborhoods in peace. I always have some loser asking me for money in black neighborhoods. I've started driving further and paying higher prices just so I can avoid the dregs.

Went to Assumption. Rode the bus. 54 kids on the bus, 46 were black. Once we had a kid who was expelled from school for bringing a pistol, jump on the bus at one of the stops to announce "imma shoot all you white mother frickers"
My school was about 50/50 between white and black, but all the class presidents were black, the homecoming king and queen were almost always black, and the student body boys and girls state representatives were always black, so the school felt blacker.
One thing I remember is my graduating class had 6 Valedictorians, four white and two black. All of the white ones had taken the AP/Honors/College prep curriculum. They had the 30s on the ACTS and were going to good schools. One of the black ones had done most of the hard classes, but he was given special permission to drop calculus mid-year when it became apparent he was going to make a B. The other had taken the bullshite classes and had a low ACT score. She should never have been allowed to be up there.

Grew up in the New Orleans metro area. Attended an elementary public school in 4 and 5 grades that was 80% black. Work with black and brown people my entire career. Never once had a racial conflict with anyone.

Yep.
My 6th grade was the old segregated elementary school, too.

This would be an interesting question for anyone growing up outside the South.

If black.people take issue to the perception of thier race, they need to look within their own community. You can't change the perception of others by forcing them to believe something that directly contradicts what they see with their own eyes.

The janitor at my high school was a black. His name was Earl.

I'm from a county in Georgia that is 63% black, and it's only that low because Hispanic numbers have surged so much over the past decade due to agriculture.
Now, when you get into "town," the number is 87% black.
The public schools are 95% black, and only 1% white.
So yeah, I have experience with black folks...
What would you like know?

I grew up in East Texas and my high school was 51% African American and my town was probably 45%.
My lived experience is I definitely see more wokeness from wealthy whites who have no idea what "high yella" means and have never had hot water cornbread or greens. They tend to view African Americans as pets to be cared for and are the first to freak out walking down a street among a bunch of African Americans ... where to me that has always been life.
I have been blessed to spend lots of time around good and bad folks from myriad races.

When I moved from New Orleans and started walking into places that were 100% like me, I realized that I was happier. Also nice to leave our car doors unlocked and home unlocked and just tell neighbors and friends to come on back.

Anyone that grew up playing competitive sports (ie. Football, Basketball, Baseball), was around blacks all the time. I never saw the big deal until politicians convinced some blacks and whites that there was a problem.

I am white but have mixed nieces and nephews. I grew up in a very mixed neighborhood and have never really thought races are difference makers, character is.
