No he was at the very bottom of the bodies. The guy stacked everyone 2x2 3 stacks high then shot down into them. Then stabbed the survivors until his knife broke. He then laid everyone down in the blood and realized the one guy was alive. The guy said "I can't identify you" and the killer said "imma let you live big man" and left.
There were other survivors just one unhurt. He was as able to identify him as black and that he said he was an ex cop who was fired and had nothing to lose.

I actually looked into every story posted.

The yuba 5 I think we're just too mentally ill to make the decisions needed to survive after being lost.

The hotel Cecil girl was a schizo.

But the others.... some crazy mysteries there.

Did they think Todd Derrick Lee killed her? He worked in concrete slabs for homes and I think they theorized that he put her in a footing before a house was poured.

It was a theory for a while but he was only 14 when she went missing.

The Delhi murders gets me the most. I think that one may eventually be solved via DNA.

Maura Murray is pretty weird. I kinda feel like she didn't want to be found, but who knows?

That missing Texas State student that occurred recently is strange too, Jason Landry is his name.

The Margaret Coon murder:

Margaret Coon’s cold case homicide, recounting the circumstances of her death and placing sex traffickers among those high on the suspect list. Days after Donna Bahm’s murder in January 1988, authorities told the press, it was time to re-examine the 1987 slaying of Margaret Ann Coon, an ex-prosecutor from Mandeville who specialized in prosecuting sex crimes. February 19, 1987, someone stabbed the attractive 41-year-old blonde out on her nightly 5-mile jog. She fell dead a half-mile from her home inside the exclusive Beau Chene subdivision, a fenced and guarded country-club community near Mandeville.

Margaret Coon went jogging after 1:00 a.m., or someone fooled investigators into believing she died jogging. It appears more probable that someone killed her elsewhere and staged the murder scene, and if that is the case, then the murderer must have been well known to Margaret Coon’s dog. “The funny thing about this Margaret Coon case,” Joe Freeman said. “They kept changing investigators. I do not believe anyone detective stayed on her case for more than a month at a time, and the detectives left her file in a place anyone could get to it. I sure wish I could get to it today.

Didn't we just do this thread? Yup.

I love threads like these though. They always get me down some deep Wikipedia rabbit holes. I'm even searching some of the cases in this thread and they come up as links I've previously clicked fairly recently (likely from that thread above).

Threads like these remind me just how much evil is lurking in the world. Scary to think about if you think too hard about it.

Jamison family disappearance.

quote:

The initial investigation into the Jamison family's disappearance indicated that they had probably not vanished of their own accord. The Jamisons' pickup truck was discovered within a few days,[7] abandoned in Latimer County, Oklahoma, a short distance south of the town of Kinta.[8] The Jamisons' bodies were not found, but their malnourished dog, Maisie, was still in the truck.[9][10] Also discovered were the Jamisons' IDs, wallets, mobile phones, a GPS system, and about $32,000 in cash.[5] The Jamisons were not known for carrying large amounts of cash with them.[1] Another clue was the surveillance video from the family's home security system.[10] The footage, time stamped the day they left, showed the couple making several silent trips between their vehicle and home, as they methodically packed to leave. In the footage, the couple's movements were described as "trancelike".[10] The video also shows Sherilyn Jamison place a brown briefcase in the family pickup.[7] Former Sheriff Beauchamp remarked that he believed the briefcase could be an important clue. Indeed, both the briefcase and Sherilyn’s small-caliber handgun have never been recovered.[7]

quote:

Before the remains were discovered, several theories emerged about the family's disappearance, such as that they had faked their own deaths, were in witness protection, were murdered, or had died by group suicide.[12] Shortly before the disappearance, Bobby Jamison was involved in a bitter lawsuit with his father, Bob Dean Jamison, claiming that Bob Dean had threatened the family. Bobby stated that his father had struck him with his vehicle on November 1, 2008 and that Bob Dean was involved in gangs and meth. Police do not believe that Bobby's father was involved in the family's disappearance.[12]

Another popular theory was that the Jamisons were involved in drug dealing. Investigators cited the large amount of cash found in the Jamisons' truck, and the apparent strange behavior exhibited by Bobby and Sherilynn shortly before they went missing.[13] The Jamisons had reportedly told their local pastor Gary Brandon on separate occasions that they had seen spirits inside their home and that Bobby Jamison had allegedly claimed to have been reading from the “satanic bible”.[13]

Watch “Missing 411: The Hunted” on Amazon if you get a chance. It’s about people, mostly hunters, who went missing in the woods. Some weird/creepy cases.

Delphi is a small town (2,000 people) and its county and most of the adjacent counties are small. Not really the case that the killer could disappear into the crowd.

He had to have been familiar with the trail, which strongly suggests a local.

I would say chances are that suspect has been identified, but there is no prior criminal history and very little way for the cops to get a search warrant so it may be a dead end.

Makes you wonder how many sick people are out there that are just looking for an opportunity. It's scary stuff. Never let your young kids go off alone.

Yea, just a discussion about her murder went to nine pages in that thread four years ago.

I knew Margaret in law school so I've followed this case with some interest over the years.

I've listened to just about all the serial killer books on audible:

The I-5 Killer
American Predator
Green River Killer
Murder on the Bayou
BTK
Evil Has a Name
The creation of a Serial Killer
In Cold Blood

Any recommendations beyond the ones previously mentioned would be appreciated.

Unsolved ones would be interesting to listen to as well...

That Chapter youtube channel

Has a lot of cases.

edit, these are solved cases, my bad lol

One pretty crazy case I saw was these lads thats family was pig farmers. When their dad quit they tried it out and sucked at it. Sold some land or some such (that made them a lot of money, i've forgotten). They started having parties, girls started missing. Turns out one of the lads killed nearly 50 girls. He would butcher them, turn their remains into food, feed it to people, give it away, etc. Sometimes turn their remains into some processing plant that would render them into products people would use. This was in Canada somewhere.

Another crazy one was some guy around the Hoover Dam that would drug girls and horrificly sexually abuse them in his sex trailer thing for days on end and then kill them, sometimes release them.

Then there is the dutroux, epstein, mk stuff.

Tanya Marange of Mandeville. Someone jumped her on her own property, beat her severely and left her for dead. Somehow she survived the assault, but the beating put her into a coma for a couple years before she died. She was also pregnant at the time. Two lives lost.

Indiana Packers Corp is in Delphi, so I imagine they have a lot of truck drivers in and out off I-65.

Given how small the area is, I can't imagine someone locally not recognizing the guy if he is a local.
