I left in January as well. 35 years registered as a Republican. Now I am an independent. Only problem is Louisiana's closed primary system. I may have to change it again if I decide I want to have a vote in the primaries.

There has never been a better time to vote third party, as our votes don’t really count anymore. I stay a registered Republican so I can vote in the primaries, but this will be the first time that I will not be voting straight Republican since my first election in 1988. I will vote for Trump, Cruz, or DeSantis. Beyond that, it will be third party.
